I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 213

"Don't call me that late anymore. It's inconvenient. And don't send photos like that again. It's inappropriate."

He had seen it. Was this a rejection?

Sienna bit her lip so hard it turned white, struggling to suppress the wave of humiliation washing over her.

A faint set of teeth marks remained, betraying her inner turmoil.

"Are you worried about Zoe?"

Hayden kept his eyes fixed on the road, clearly displeased by her line of questioning.

The simple wedding band on his ring finger caught the light, mocking her.

"I... I thought you and Zoe weren't sleeping together."

A sour feeling crawled up her throat. Had he been in bed with Zoe when she sent that photo?

No, that was impossible.

She refused to even entertain the thought.

Hayden's brow furrowed deeply. "This has nothing to do with Zoe. It's just my own boundary."

He had assumed Sienna would understand that she had crossed a line.

Sienna immediately felt a wave of relief.

If it wasn't because of Zoe, then the problem was easily solved.

"I understand. I won't message you so late next time."

In her mind, she rationalized that he simply didn't want his sleep interrupted.

He was running a massive empire, after all.

She had been inconsiderate.

Next time, she would just send it earlier in the evening.

Zoe and Hayden's miserable marriage was bound to end soon anyway.

"I didn't fall! Mom's lying! That crybaby threw a rock at me!"

Beatrice was utterly baffled. She knew "crybaby" meant Lily. But Lily was the sweetest, most well-behaved child. Why would she attack him?

Usually, it was Holden pulling Lily's hair.

Beatrice had tried to intervene over the years, but Zoe had always remained meekly silent, claiming it was just kids playing.

Beatrice had been thrilled recently to see Zoe finally finding her spine and defending her daughter.

Hearing that Lily had fought back was music to her ears. Honestly, looking at Holden's comical injuries, she kind of wanted to laugh.

Good for Lily.

Sienna put on a show of scolding Holden before turning back to Beatrice with a sorrowful sigh.

"You always praise Lily for being such a good girl, Grandmother, but she was incredibly vicious today. If the teachers hadn't caught them, who knows what would have happened?

What if she caused permanent brain damage? I'm not trying to cause trouble, but Zoe is raising that child to be a little monster."
