I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 168

When exactly did the professor meet Zoe?

And why didn't he know anything about it?

Garrett had wanted to decline. He had hoped to use this rare opportunity to take her out to dinner alone.

But with Hayden suddenly forcing his way into the plans, Garrett was out of luck.

"By the way, please don't invite your Vice President Winters. I'm afraid she'll make me lose my appetite," the professor added.

Hayden's lips curled slightly, though his eyes never left Zoe as he simply replied, "Alright."

"Professor, Ms. Lynd, you two can ride with me."

He then looked over at Garrett.

Garrett got the hint. "I'll drive myself."

But he couldn't quite read Hayden's attitude.

Why was the man guarding against him like he was a thief?

Unaware of the underlying tension, the professor smiled like a mischievous child.

He winked at Zoe secretly, speaking with a hint of eager pleading.

"Zoe, we'll finalize our little arrangement after dinner, right?"

She felt utterly helpless.

Glancing into the distance, she spotted her own Maserati.

The one Hayden had given her, she had passed on to Nadia.

She was driving her own car with her own license plate now.

If he found out, there was no telling what kind of unhinged stunt he might pull.

Deciding it was best to avoid unnecessary trouble, she obediently followed the professor into Hayden's car.

When Sienna finally walked out, she happened to see him driving off with the professor and Zoe.

Wearing a heavy gown, she couldn't even walk properly.

She had assumed he really had urgent business to attend to.

She never imagined he was just ditching her to give Zoe a ride.

Swallowing her rage, she took several deep breaths.

In the end, all she could do was call the family driver to come pick her up from the venue.

Zoe—

A waiter came in to set out their plates and silverware.

Shockingly, Hayden grabbed the silverware in front of Zoe and began wiping it down for her.

He did it so naturally, as if it was simply second nature.

The professor watched the scene in utter bewilderment.

Garrett was equally stunned.

The rumors claimed Hayden was hopelessly in love with his brother's widow because they had been former lovers.

No one ever said he had a thing for his own secretary.

Garrett couldn't help but look at Zoe.

She was ethereally beautiful, an absolute vision.

Any man would fall for her, and he was no exception, especially since he fully understood how brilliant she was.

Could it be that Hayden was interested in her, too?

Looking between the two of them, the professor suddenly spoke up.

"Zoe, all these years you've never told me who your husband actually is. There are no outsiders here today, so why don't you spill it?"
