Sinclair POV
I killed him. I destroyed the files, took the hard drive, walked out, fully knowing I could never go back to that place. The company was my home for three years. They fed me. They clothed me. They trained me. They educated me.
Then…they turned on me. Not just me, but on Thalia and Kaia too. We were three of their best hitmen. We closed out our connections, went dark, and followed everything to the letter to guarantee the company’s protection as so many others did before us. What I don’t understand is why. Why were we the exception?
When Adrian asked me to talk to him, I explained my thoughts. His eyebrows furrowed.
“Some of my best memories before coming here, Adrian, were at the company. The milestones and achievements. I met Thalia and Kaia there. We trained together.”
“I understand, Sin. I am concerned, though. Something you said is making me question the why behind it, though. If you did everything right and followed protocols, then why were the protections for the three of you stripped?”
“I don’t know, Adrian. I want to think about it tomorrow. Tonight, I just want to grieve my loss. Because it feels like another memory has been taken from me.”
He put his arms around me and kissed my forehead. “I understand, little sin.”
Once the shower was over, we got dressed. The bags had been brought in. Adrian smirked at me.
“I know you are sad, but I have to ask, what did you buy at the gag store?” he asked, and I immediately blushed.
“Um, it wasn’t my idea,” I said as I pulled out a box.
Adrian’s eyes shot up. “Strawberry flavored, huh?”
I covered my hands with my face from embarrassment. Adrian chuckled and pulled my hands from my face.
“Baby, I love your flavor best,” he said as he kissed me. When he pulled away, he smirked. “But I bet this would go well with your flavor.”
“Adrian!” I blushed furiously.
He laughed. “I’ll go get our dinner. Then we can put away everything you bought. I’m most interested to see everything you got from Victoria’s Secret,” he growled playfully.
When dinner was brought up, I frowned. Adrian looked at me with concern. “Is everything okay?”
I sighed. “I promise, Adrian. Today was just supposed to be lunch. Tomorrow, we go back home to Blackstone. I want to talk to Kaia before we leave, though. I want to see how she is holding up. I’m also going to look into how her father broke out of prison and get her those connections.”
“I don’t know enough about what is going on with Kaia and her father,” Adrian said.
“Her father is a piece of work. He never paid attention to her growing up unless she got in trouble. He married her off to Paul. When she complained that Paul was treating her badly, he told her to put up with it and try to have a baby with him. He didn’t care about her. He wanted Black Enterprises. The prenup was going to leave Kaia with nothing, and it was going to transfer everything to her dad. When Kaia divorced Paul, she got everything because Paul violated the prenup. When the divorce was finalized, he sent someone to kill her. Isaiah actually took the guy out.”
Adrian’s face darkened. “Now he put a hit on her again.”
“Yeah, he will stop at nothing to get his hands on Black Enterprises. I want to know why, and I’m sure Kaia does too. I want to know how he got out of prison. Where did he get the money to fund the hit? Everything. Kaia and I can figure that out, but I’m sure she and Isaiah will take it from there.”
“Anything I can do to help?”
“I think we can handle this part, but I will let you know.”
Just then, the food arrived, and we finally ate. My dinner was everything. Even though Adrian looked a little green. I’m sure it was with envy.

What happened to the storyline? After Chp 100 it is a completely different story! This is terrible!...
So many missing chapters and repetitions. A different story altogether from chapter 101...
