His Plump Mate (Book 1: The 'His' Series) novel Chapter 681

Julian POV

I went to Sinclair’s room. She had planned to come back and be my Luna. Her things are here. Her scent is here. Everything she had brought, except for her laptop bag, which perished in the car fire, is still here.

I grabbed her things and personally moved them to my room. I finally found someone who could stand beside me - someone who made me want to be a better man, and now she is gone. A series of events has now brought me misery.

I am miserable. I developed an attachment to Sinclair that felt dangerously close to love. Her recordings showed me that she wasn’t in love with me yet, but the potential to fall in love was there. I will never know if that potential would have grown into love now.

I’ve never been sentimental, but I find myself wondering if there was anything that could have prevented today’s events. That attack from Condor came out of nowhere. The solution was a code Sinclair had created years ago, and now no one knows how to access it. I’ve had to take everything offline.

I am in the dark. My funds are almost completely gone. I was able to move a portion of what Sinclair recovered to me into another account I had to set up quickly. It’s not enough, though. I won’t be able to keep my pack going for another month unless I figure out something quickly.

“Alpha?” Dave comes in with a look of concern on his face.

“What is it?” I asked.

“The pack is worried. Everyone is nervous about all the communication being cut off.”

“Do we not have a pack link?”

“It’s not just the pack link. The pack members don’t have a way to look up their own accounts. They are afraid their money will be gone too.”

“All of the attacks seem to be directed at me. Though I don’t know who Condor is, or what I have done to offend him.”

“Are you sure Condor isn’t a Red Herring, Alpha?”

“What are you talking about?” I asked.

“I’m just saying that before Condor, the only person who could hack into our systems was Sinclair. Then she couldn’t recover everything? I thought she was smarter than the rest of us.”

“I only had her contracted for certain things, Dave. Besides, she showed me all of her work. She never knew my personal bank information. She never saw me typing it in.”
