Lachlan whistled at Yvonne. "Girls should smile more if they want to stay youthful. Walking around with that stiff face all the time isn't cute."
"Let my lady out of the vehicle," Yvonne demanded, her voice as cold as crushed ice.
Ottilie stepped out on her own and gave Yvonne a pleasant smile. "Do you ever sleep, Yvonne?"
Yvonne immediately offered a deep bow. "Ms. Sewell, please come back with us."
"Sure thing." Ottilie turned back to Lachlan in the driver's seat. "Thanks for the ride. Since your car is wrecked, I'll have Yvonne handle the repair arrangements with you."
Her only real goal was for Lachlan to snap a few photos of Yvonne actually losing her cool.
It would make her feel a lot less suffocated.
"Don't mention it. Take care, Ms. Sewell."
Ottilie glanced at Yvonne. "Move the cars. Stop blocking Mr. Schmidt."
Yvonne hesitated for two seconds before giving a tactical hand signal, prompting the guards to clear one of the SUVs out of the way.
Lachlan's exit was tight, and whether intentionally or not, he aggressively cut off one of the SUVs before roaring away.
Ottilie climbed into Yvonne's car, leaning back against the seat and closing her eyes to rest.
They hadn't driven far before the car suddenly stopped.
Without opening her eyes, Ottilie felt a rush of air as the door opened and someone slid in beside her.
A familiar, subtle cologne immediately filled the space.
The car was dead silent, but the oppressive aura manifested into invisible blades, making every cell in Ottilie's body ache.
She opened her eyes and saw Yorath's profile.
It was a ruthless kind of handsome.
Almost too perfect to be human.
Without waiting for Yorath to speak, Yvonne delivered a perfectly sterile report. "When we intercepted the vehicle, Ms. Sewell was entirely unharmed. Mr. Schmidt claimed he saw her alone and simply offered her a ride."
It was a clean, precise summary without a single wasted syllable.
Yorath absorbed it in complete silence.
The rest of the drive was totally wordless.
Once they reached the estate, Ottilie headed straight for her room.
Yorath followed right behind her.
Standing in the doorway, Ottilie tried to pull the door shut, silently denying him entry.
Yorath placed one hand flat against the wood and, with a gentle push, effortlessly forced it open.
