He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 92

"I'll make the money," Ottilie emphasized.

Yorath hung up the phone on his end.

Ottilie handed the device back to Yvonne with a tight smile.

Yvonne gave a crisp nod and stepped out.

Evening arrived.

Dressed to the nines, Ottilie stood precisely at 6:30 waiting at the door for Yorath.

Yvonne opened the rear door of the car for her, shielding her head with a hand, and gave a deep ninety-degree bow as she closed the door behind her.

As the car pulled away, Ottilie caught from her peripheral vision that Yvonne was still holding that exact posture.

She pulled her gaze back, only to find Yorath watching her.

"Do you like Yvonne?"

He asked the question lightly, giving it no particular weight.

Still, Ottilie turned it over in her mind.

When words came from Yorath's mouth, they were never just idle chatter.

After running it through her head twice and still failing to grasp his angle, she decided to stop overthinking.

"She's great. Highly competent, dedicated, and athletic. How much does she cost a month?"

"A hundred grand, after taxes."

Ottilie looked out the window and didn't say another word.

Halfway there, Yorath's phone rang.

It was Nyssa Tarrant.

"Yorath, my car broke down at the Centennial Bridge. Could you come pick me up?"

"We'll be there in ten minutes."

When they reached the Centennial Bridge, Nyssa's car was parked on the shoulder.

Kendrick Walden was pacing anxiously beside it.

Seeing Yorath's car pull up, he jogged over and tapped on the driver's side window.

Soren rolled the window down and said, "Please ask Ms. Tarrant to get in."

Kendrick went to fetch her.
