He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 70

The weather was stifling. Lying tangled together in the cramped space, every breath felt like inhaling hot air.

Her clothes were soaked in sweat. She couldn't fall asleep.

At 2:00 AM.

Someone pounded on the door.

The door was thin, so the landlady's voice echoed loudly through the room.

"Open up!"

She sat up, but his arm tightened around her waist, stopping her from getting out of bed.

"Is everything okay?" she called out.

"I heard you brought a man home! You signed a single-occupancy lease. Bringing someone to live here violates the contract. Come out here and explain yourself!"

She gently pried his arm off. "I'll open the door," she whispered.

He sat up, and after hastily straightening their clothes, she opened the door.

The moment the landlady saw him, she exploded.

"Who is this?"

"He's a friend of mine," she replied.

"I'm Yorath Fordham," he stated flatly.

After paying a three-hundred-dollar penalty fee, they were kicked out onto the street.

Standing by the road, the night breeze finally brought some relief from the heat.

"If you don't want to live at the Meridian Villa, you can stay in my suite at the hotel," he offered.

"The villa is fine." She was exhausted and let out a yawn.

A Rolls-Royce Cullinan glided over and stopped in front of them.

Soren stepped out and opened the back door.

As she slid into the seat, she asked, "I thought your car broke down?"

"My other car broke down," he replied without missing a beat.

"Oh." She leaned her head back and immediately started dozing off.

The perk of a luxury car was that no matter how bumpy the road, the ride was perfectly smooth.

She slept comfortably and only woke up when the car pulled into the driveway.
