He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 61

Ottilie found it hard to adjust to the blinding neon lights and deafening music inside the club.

She didn't have Lachlan Schmidt's phone number, so she emailed him instead.

{I'm at the bar. Where are you?}

He quickly replied with the booth number.

Ottilie found the private room and pushed the door open, finding Lachlan alone inside.

He held a drink, lounging lazily on the sofa.

Seeing her walk in, the corners of his mouth lifted. "Ms. Sewell, please take a seat."

Ottilie sat next to him and cut straight to the chase.

"I read the contract. Ten years is too long."

In ten years, she'd be thirty-five. Her entire youth would be gone.

"It is a bit long," Lachlan admitted, "but the perks I'm offering make up for it. A seventy-thirty split, seventy for you. At least one movie a year, plus reality shows and endorsements. There's a guaranteed minimum income, and I don't require you to share my bed. I'd say I'm much more generous than Yorath."

"I can bring you massive profits as well," Ottilie countered. "You'll get a return on your investment."

"Are you that confident?" His gaze sharpened.

"Yes. If I had no commercial value, you wouldn't have chosen me. I'll only agree to five years."

In five years, she wouldn't be as young anymore. She just wanted to finish what she needed to do and gracefully bow out.

"Five years isn't impossible, but I need to add one condition. Whatever terms you agreed to with Yorath, you'll agree to here with me."

Her extra condition with Yorath had been sleeping with him.

"To tell you the truth, I've slept with him enough to last a lifetime, and it's lost its appeal. You only want me to get back at Yorath, but a man won't get jealous over a washed-up ex. Instead of making a fuss over what happens in the bedroom, let's keep this strictly business."

Lachlan's eyes turned suggestive. "He might have had enough, but I haven't even started. Why don't we try it once? If it's not good, we can stick to just the contract."

"Unfortunately, you don't meet my standards for a test drive," Ottilie replied.

"Oh? You have standards?" Now he was really intrigued.

The unattainable always stirred the most desire.
