He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 17

"Are you okay? How did everything get resolved?"

"It turns out a local TV crew was filming a documentary about rural life yesterday afternoon, and we happened to get caught in their footage. Mr. Fordham managed to track down the video of us working in the fields, along with the exact moment I handed her father the cash. I'm already back to teaching at the school."

Ottilie looked up at the ceiling, her eyes burning with an indescribable rush of emotion. "I'm glad. What about the student?"

"Her father forced her to frame me. He told her he'd beat her to death if she didn't lie. He's been arrested and is waiting for the investigation results."

"Mm." She felt entirely drained and didn't really want to talk anymore.

"Have you eaten? You don't sound too good."

"I'm fine. Don't worry about me."

"Oh, right," Yves added. "Mr. Fordham mentioned that you had your own place and wouldn't be staying at my apartment anymore. He had your things moved out. Where are you staying now? Send me your location. I'll pick you up this weekend and treat you to dinner to say thank you."

"I went back to my parents' house. I have some things to handle right now. I'll reach out when I'm free."

She hung up, got out of bed, and walked into the walk-in closet to find something to wear.

She pulled open the doors, only to be greeted by rows upon rows of custom, high-end designer pieces. Top-tier fabrics, impeccable tailoring, and exclusive designs.

Pajamas, loungewear, outerwear, evening gowns—everything was fully stocked.

Even though Nyssa didn't officially live with Yorath, the sheer amount of clothes left here proved she stayed over frequently.

Ottilie had zero desire to wear Nyssa's clothes, and even less desire to wear Yorath's.

But she couldn't exactly leave naked. She rummaged through the back and eventually picked out a vintage black dress. It had a classic cut and fell elegantly past her knees.

When she walked downstairs, she saw Jevon and Yorath sitting together, deep in discussion. Elian was sitting quietly in the far corner reading a book, practically invisible.

Jevon caught a whiff of a very pleasant, fresh scent. He looked up just as she descended the stairs.
