"Lucca is back. Jarrod is here too. Should we go over and say hi?" someone asked.
Lucca Sterling returned to his seat and sank back lazily, clearly having no intention of doing so.
"Speaking of which, when did Jarrod get married? Do you know, Lucca?" another person asked curiously.
"It's been two or three years!"
Before Lucca could open his mouth, a busybody nearby chimed in.
"I heard Grandpa Fuller arranged it. The bride is obedient and well-behaved. Whether Jarrod is abroad or in the country, she quietly serves his family. She never picks fights or complains. She is practically the perfect trophy wife!"
"No wonder Jarrod is willing to acknowledge her. She must have spent a lot of time and effort pleasing him these past couple of years! She's probably loved him desperately! Hahaha!"
Faced with everyone's teasing laughter, Lucca just gave a meaningful smile. "I wouldn't be so sure."
"What do you mean? Do you know some inside scoop?" someone gossiped.
Before Lucca could say anything, Jarrod's assistant walked over and whispered something in Jarrod's ear.
Jarrod then excused himself to the people around him, claiming he had something to attend to, and walked out of the banquet hall.
Lucca smiled and raised his glass. "Mind your own business, guys. Come on, let's drink!"
...
When Jarrod entered the banquet hall, he glanced around but didn't see Stella Quinn anywhere.
Arthur Bishop naturally knew what his boss was looking for. He immediately went to ask around and found out that Stella had headed out to the lawn.
Arthur quickly relayed the information to Jarrod.
Jarrod walked out of the banquet hall, casually adjusting the thin cashmere scarf tucked under his trench coat.
