Jarrod's expression remained impenetrable. "Why exactly do you want to go so badly?"

Stella obviously couldn't tell him she was flying out to give Logan an amulet. "I just... I want to broaden my horizons. Network with people in the industry."

Jarrod didn't say a word. He simply stared at her, his predatory gaze seeming to pierce right through her flimsy excuse, dissecting every secret she was trying to hide.

Stella's heart hammered against her ribs under his intense scrutiny. Just as she was about to stammer out another excuse, his cool voice cut through the silence.

"You're not a direct employee of the Fuller Group headquarters. Adding you to my entourage is inappropriate."

Stella's heart plummeted. She opened her mouth for one last desperate plea, but Jarrod continued.

"I'll call Miles Stanton later and see if he can squeeze you onto the Mythos roster."

If Jarrod made the call, Miles would never dare refuse.
