"Hard to say," Jarrod replied.

Tomorrow was already Thursday. If he was attending the summit, he might be flying out as early as tomorrow night.

Stella needed an answer immediately. "Have you eaten yet? Do you want me to bring you dinner?"

"If you're tied up, I can just wait for you at your office. I really need to talk to you about something."

Perhaps catching the raw urgency in her voice, Jarrod paused before giving a brief, "Fine."

Stella let out a long breath of relief. She immediately hailed a cab to the Fuller Group headquarters.

Meanwhile, across town, Julian was busy planning the rest of the evening. "Jarrod, I just sent the address to the group chat. We'll finish dinner here, then head over to that new live-music club. Chloe is going to love it!"

Jarrod stood up from the table. "I'm skipping dinner and the rest of the night. Put whatever you all spend on my tab."

"What are you talking about?" Julian protested.

"Chloe was already pissed we didn't invite her last time. She literally just said she needed to apologize to you for something. If you bail now, she's going to throw a fit!"

Jarrod showed zero intention of staying.

Julian physically stepped in front of him to block his path. "Who the hell called you that has you rushing off like this? Was it the girl calling you 'Jar-Jar'?"

"Bro, are you seriously catching feelings? Girls these days are ruthless manipulators. Who knows what she's actually after? Besides, you're still—"

"Are you done?" Jarrod cut him off with a lethal glare, immediately silencing Julian's rant. "My wife needs to see me."

Julian blinked, stunned for a second, then muttered a quiet, "Oh," as he watched Jarrod stride out of the restaurant.

Not long after, Sebastian and Chloe arrived at the Thai restaurant.

"His wife needed him for something, so he took off," Julian informed them.

Chloe's expression instantly darkened. Sebastian, however, looked surprised.
