Stella was speechless. She seriously doubted George's comprehension skills.

"Dad, you know perfectly well that my arrangement with Jarrod is ending soon. Saying things like that just makes everything incredibly awkward for me."

"Ending? What ending?" George barked, clearly displeased. "Jarrod has been coming home a lot lately, and he hasn't mentioned a word about divorcing you! You just need to focus on being a good wife!"

"But—"

"Enough, I don't have time to argue with you about this," George cut her off.

"Don't think I don't know what's going through your head! Logan has his own girlfriend now. You need to drop that fantasy right this second. Focus on your health, give the Fuller family an heir, and your position as Mrs. Fuller will be secured forever!"

With that, George hung up.

Stella didn't have the energy to call him back and fight.

It took a full day of rest for her to finally feel somewhat recovered.

The next morning, she got ready, planning to invite Summer out for a coffee.

Just then, her phone rang.

It was Eleanor.

She had been out of town attending a charity gala, which was why she hadn't been at the family dinner.

While Eleanor didn't exactly think highly of Stella, she at least maintained a polite facade, unlike Edward and Serena.

"Eleanor, is everything okay?" Stella answered.

"Jasper ran off to race horses, and his phone is unreachable!"

Eleanor sounded frantic. Jasper had suffered a terrible leg injury from a riding accident when he was younger and took ages to recover. He was strictly banned from being near horses, yet today, he had sneaked out.

Serena wasn't picking up, and Edward was tied up with business.
