Stella was a little surprised. Did Jarrod come back last night?

She didn't think she'd slept that heavily, but she hadn't heard a thing.

Jarrod was scrolling through financial reports on his tablet, his knuckles sharp and distinct, his profile devastatingly handsome.

The morning sun streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a faint, golden halo around him.

Hearing her come down the stairs, Jarrod lifted his dark eyes, his gaze seeming to linger on her face for a second.

She rarely wore a full face of makeup, and of course, today was the day Jarrod happened to see it.

Stella kept her cool. "Good morning, Jarrod."

Jarrod gave a low "Hmm" and went back to his tablet.

"Breakfast is ready, Mrs. Fuller. Come and eat."

Mrs. Higgins emerged from the kitchen, greeting her with unexpected politeness.

Perhaps after being reprimanded by Jarrod last time, she knew better than to act up in front of him.

Seeing there were things she could actually eat, Stella walked over and sat down.

They ate in total silence. Since Jarrod didn't speak, Stella didn't bother either.

After quietly finishing her food, Stella stood up. "Jarrod, I'm going to head to the office."

"We'll go together."

Jarrod wiped his hands and stood up as well.

"..."

Stella had absolutely no desire to ride with him, but since he had already offered, she couldn't exactly say no.

Outside, the driver was already waiting.

Seeing them, he greeted politely, "Mr. Fuller, Mrs. Fuller."

Stella offered a polite smile and nodded.

In the car, Jarrod flipped through some documents while Stella stared quietly out the window.

Suddenly, her phone chimed with a notification.

It was a message from Professor Thorne.

He told her that she had left an earring behind last night and that he had left it at the hotel front desk for her to pick up whenever she was free.

So it had fallen off in the professor's room.
