Skylar offered a polite smile. "Stella, I know about Professor Julian Thorne. He's incredibly renowned in the industry. Most people can't even get an appointment with him. I can tell you've put a lot of effort into this."

"Don't worry, I'll talk Logan into meeting him. After all, I want him to get better, too."

Hearing Skylar agree so readily, Stella felt a massive weight lift off her chest.

She pulled out her phone. "Skylar, can we exchange contacts? It'll be easier to keep in touch about the follow-ups."

Skylar's smile was gentle. "Of course. And just call me Skylar. We're old classmates, after all; there's no need to be so formal."

Stella nodded. "Alright. Skylar, once I've confirmed the time with Professor Thorne, I'll send you the details and the address."

Stella would have loved to take Logan to see the professor herself, but she knew perfectly well that he wouldn't give her the time of day. He would only see it as another pathetic attempt to cling to him.

There was no need to rush. As long as Logan could regain his memory, their relationship would go back to the way it was.

...

The next day, Wednesday.

From the moment she woke up, Stella obsessively checked her phone.

Last night, she had finalized the meeting time with Professor Thorne, and Skylar had promised to bring Logan on time.

But Stella still couldn't shake her unease.

She was terrified that the professor's schedule might change, or that Skylar would suddenly back out.

After washing up, she headed downstairs.

Mrs. Higgins was at it again, grumbling about Jarrod not coming home for days.

"Running around all day and who knows what you're even busy with. You really should be spending more time focusing on your husband!"

Wasn't it completely normal for Jarrod not to come home?
