The moment Stella felt Chloe's gaze sweep over her, she yanked her hand free from Jarrod's grip.
"Mr. Fuller, it has nothing to do with Serena. I accidentally bumped it myself."
After clarifying with Jarrod, she immediately turned to Chloe. "Director Huxley, Mr. Fuller just arrived. He mistakenly thought Serena caused me to hit my arm."
With both Jarrod and Chloe here, Stella worried that the rest of the staff would soon flock over to watch the drama unfold.
Stella had zero desire to become the center of workplace gossip.
She added quickly, "Director Huxley, you and Mr. Fuller are here for the rehearsal, right? The stage crew is waiting for you. You should head over."
Hearing Stella's words, Chloe didn't press the issue. Instead, she smiled warmly at Jarrod. "Well then, Mr. Fuller, shall we?"
Jarrod glanced at Stella. The faint trace of urgency in her expression made it obvious she wanted them gone.
His dark eyes turned somber as he met Chloe's gaze. "Yeah. Let's go."
Chloe stepped intimately to his side. "It's just a rehearsal today. What brings you here?"
Jarrod looked down at her. "Who was it that said she wanted me here for moral support?"
"I only said that in passing, I didn't think you'd actually show up!"
Chloe was thrilled. "Thank you, Jarrod. You're the best!"
"See that? My brother treats Chloe like gold!" Serena whispered smugly into Stella's ear.
"Are you coming or not?"
Pausing at the door, Jarrod suddenly turned and cast a frigid glare at Serena.
"Coming, obviously!" Serena scrambled forward. "I have to record Chloe's rehearsal video!"
With that, Serena hurried after them.
Before leaving, she made sure to shoot Stella one last gloating look.
Stella didn't have the energy to entertain Serena's petty games; she simply breathed a sigh of relief.
