Jarrod dialed Professor Thorne's number.

"Well, aren't you a rare caller. What's the occasion? Planning to bring your wife over for a visit?"

Ignoring the lighthearted teasing, Jarrod asked in a low, serious tone, "When you were in Royal Oaks, do you happen to remember the name of the person who came to you begging for a consultation?"

Professor Thorne chuckled. "Of course I do. The patient's last name was Lennox, and the young woman fighting for him was named Quinn. In fact, she just called me last night to consult on his condition again!"

"But Jarrod, why the sudden interrogation? Are you testing an old man's memory?"

"Talk later."

Jarrod abruptly ended the call.

So the 'poor woman trapped by love' that day had been Stella all along.

She had even reached out to the professor just yesterday to check on Logan's condition. It was blatantly obvious she had never truly let him go.

Jarrod felt the medication aggressively kicking in. Violent chills and waves of burning heat tore through his body. His chest tightened uncomfortably, his breathing grew heavy, and his throat felt like sandpaper.

He walked over and poured himself a glass of water, but drinking it offered zero relief. The suffocating weight on his chest refused to lift.

He consciously regulated his breathing, desperate to regain some composure.

Just then, his phone chimed with a new notification.

[Mr. Fuller, are you here yet?]

Jarrod stared at the text with a predatory, somber gaze for a long time before finally making his decision.

...

Meanwhile, Stella stared at the completely unresponsive chat, completely clueless as to what was holding Jarrod up.

She tried calling again, but his phone was turned off.

Stella paused for a moment before calling Arthur Bishop to see if he knew anything.

Arthur genuinely had no idea. "Mr. Fuller hasn't been in the office since noon. He cleared his entire schedule for the afternoon."
