In the past, Jarrod never informed her of his business trips or whereabouts. Calling her specifically today was likely because they were scheduled to get their divorce certificate next Wednesday.
"How long will you be gone?" she asked. "Will you make it back by Wednesday?"
"It's a tricky situation. I might be gone for about half a month," he replied.
Doing the mental math, Stella kept her voice even. "We have a one-month window after the cooling-off period to finalize the paperwork. There's plenty of time. Go handle your business, and we'll sign the papers when you get back."
With that, she prepared to hang up.
