Jarrod shot Sebastian another sideways glance, his brow furrowing slightly. "That has absolutely nothing to do with your original question."

"True," Sebastian chuckled. "I just wanted your perspective on the principle of the matter. Do you think it's appropriate?"

Jarrod, completely checked out of the conversation, replied flatly, "Whatever makes you happy."

"You're absolutely right."

Satisfied, Sebastian finally turned back to Julian. "So stop worrying about it. My mind is already made up."

Julian let out a dramatic sigh. "Fine, I wash my hands of this. I'll just wait for you to win the girl!"

"Looking at the two of you miserable fools in love, I'm honestly thrilled to be single. Zero drama!" Julian leaned back and smirked.

...

A heavy silence fell over the table.

The next morning, Stella woke up early and headed straight for the Quinn estate.

She was supposed to take Grandma Margaret and Hannah back to Willow Creek today, and she wanted to make sure they were fully packed.

When she arrived, George Quinn and the rest of the family had just finished breakfast.

The maids were clearing the table, while Seraphina and George were huddled together discussing hotel reservations.

"Stella, you're here! Have you eaten yet?" Sylvia Quinn greeted her with a sickly-sweet smile.

Hearing her name, George turned around. "Stella, perfect timing. Seraphina mentioned there's a big carnival over in Evergreen City today, and a fireworks show tonight. Why don't you come with us?"

Stella's brow furrowed in confusion. "What carnival? Didn't you promise to help me drive Grandma and Hannah back to Willow Creek today?"

The moment she heard that, Seraphina latched onto George's arm, her voice dripping with spoiled entitlement. "Dad, we can't change the dates for the carnival, and I already bought the tickets! You promised you'd go with me. You can't back out now!"

George patted Seraphina's hand affectionately before turning back to Stella. "Stella, we'll take your grandmother back tomorrow. Come with me, Sylvia, and Seraphina to the show today. We haven't had a proper family outing in years!"
