Before Stella could even react, Sebastian quickly let go. To cover his sudden fluster, he cleared his throat and asked, "Are you alright, Stella?"

Still riding the high of finally knocking the birdie down, Stella didn't notice his awkwardness.

"I'm perfectly fine!" She offered a brilliant smile, genuinely surprised. "Sebastian! What are you doing here?"

Her eyes were curved in a bright, happy crescent, her cheeks flushed a vibrant pink, and a faint, glowing sheen of sweat dusted her forehead.

He had run into her a few times, but this was the first time he had seen her looking so carefree.

When she had stumbled into him, her hair had brushed against his face, leaving a lingering, delicate scent in the air.

He suddenly felt a rush of warmth. "I—"

"Thank you! Bye-bye!"

The girls' cheerful voices interrupted him.

Stella waved at them. "Bye!"

Sebastian used the brief distraction to compose himself.

"I was just taking some photos around here. I saw you trying to get the birdie and came over to help, but it looks like you handled it like a pro."

He flashed a grin and gave her a thumbs-up. "Impressive."

Stella felt a little embarrassed by the praise. For a tall guy like Sebastian, it would have taken nothing more than a simple reach to grab the birdie.

"Are you into photography?" she asked, smoothly shifting the topic.

Sebastian chuckled. "Whenever I'm out of ideas, I like to walk around and take pictures. It helps clear my head."

He gestured down the path. "There's a great coffee shop just up ahead. Would you want to grab a cup?" he invited.

Stella hadn't forgotten that he had helped her out before. Since her schedule was clear, she nodded. "I'd love to."

The cafe was right by the water, boasting a fantastic view.
