Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 95

Chapter 95

Winter’s fever had been the result of her body giving out in the freezing valley. Now that the fever had broken, the remaining superficial injuries were manageable.

“You’ve returned just in time.”

Just then, a woman stepped out from inside the house. She was well–dressed and poised, elegant in a calm, dignified way. The only thing that didn’t match her image was the apron tied around her waist.

“Aunt Sasha?” Winter was surprised to see Sasha at the house.

Ever since she moved out of the Xander estate, Sasha rarely showed up.

Sasha walked over and took Mrs. Xander Sr.’s other arm. “I made some soup. You and Winter should

have some.”

Mrs. Xander Sr. smiled. “That’s very thoughtful.”

Then she said to Winter, “Ever since I haven’t been feeling well, Sasha has been coming back every few days to make soup and cook for me. It’s not easy to find someone with that kind of devotion. She’s a lot better than your uncle, who only knows how to run off overseas to have fun.”

“Mom, please don’t say that,Sasha said, a little embarrassed. “Taking care of you is what I should do. Come on. Let’s go inside.”

At the dining table, Winter accepted the hot soup Sasha handed her. “Thank you, Aunt Sasha.”

She took a sip. The soup was rich and fragrant. The warmth spread through her, and she narrowed her eyes in contentment. “This is really good. Your cooking is still amazing.”

“If you like it, drink more,” Sasha said. “Mom wants you to stay a few days and build your strength back up. I was thinking the same thing. I’ll be staying here these next few days to take care of both of you.”

Winter smiled and nodded.

Sasha reached over and gently smoothed Winter’s hair, smiling softly. “When you smile, you really look like your mom.”

Winter kept drinking her soup in silence, her eyes stinging a little.

Late that night, as Winter was getting ready to sleep, Zion sent her a message.

‘Ms. Scott, I got in touch with that coach for you. Do you want his contact info?”

Winter remembered that the coach was mute. He couldn’t speak, which was why Zion hadn’t offered to have him call her.

Despite his disability, the man was incredibly skilled. The moves Winter learned from him last time had suited her perfectly, like they were designed for her. That was why she thought of him again.

Winter caught it with both hands. It was the kind of charm people swore by, the kind you couldn’t just walk in and buy on a normal day.

When Winter had been in the hospital, their coworkers had gone to visit her, but Wendy hadn’t.

Winter looked up at her, amused. “You’re being awfully nice. Do you have a crush on me or something?”

“Are you crazy?” Wendy’s face turned bright red. She reacted on instinct and lunged forward to snatch the charm back. “Give it back if you don’t want it.”

Winter lifted the hem of her shirt and tucked the charm inside.

“Winter.” A colleague from the editing team walked over, looking stressed. “That interview video you did with the CEO of Xander Corporation got rejected. Mr. Xander wants us to redo the interview.”
