Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 61

Chapter 61

William was furious. He swung his other fist hard.

“And now you’re calling yourselves husband and wife? You’ve got some nerve.”

Chris dodged that punch as well.

William pressed forward step by step.

“Chris, watch out!” Skyla cried out. She was terrified that William, wild with anger, might actually hurt him.

Gavin stepped in front of her to block her path. “Ms. Jasper, please go back to the car.”

This was not a situation Chris would want an outsider meddling in.

Skyla pushed his hand away and snapped, “How am I supposed to leave in a situation like this?”

Chris had been drinking tonight. She hadn’t felt at ease and had asked the driver to follow his car. She never expected William to ram his vehicle.

Before she could say more, William’s fist barely missed Chris’s jaw.

Skyla’s heart jumped into her throat.

She gripped the arms of her wheelchair tightly. The moment William lifted his leg to kick, Skyla lunged her wheelchair forward, attempting to shield Chris with her own body.

Gavin’s face went pale. He had not expected her wheelchair to move so fast.

William wasn’t holding back at all.

Gavin rushed forward to stop him, but it was too late.

Everything seemed to blur. A figure moved quickly and stepped in front of Skyla’s wheelchair.

The next second, there was the heavy sound of a kick landing against solid flesh.

The world seemed to fall silent.

Standing not far away, the color drained from Winter’s face in an instant, as if it had been wiped clean.

Her reddened eyes fixed on the man standing in front of the wheelchair, his head lowered as he let out a muffled grunt, his expression tight with restraint.

A bone–deep chill rose from her feet and swept over her like a wave, locking her in place.

Chris could have dodged that kick.

But instead, he turned his back and took the blow to shield Skyla.

“I don’t want it anymore!”

The corners of her reddened eyes trembled with her resolve. “That house was the last shred of memory! had of my family, and you wouldn’t even give me that! I fought so hard for it, only to end up looking like a complete joke! Fine. My family is dead anyway. What difference does it make if I have a home or not!”

Chris’s fingers curled into fists, the veins in his hands standing out as if they might split the skin. Disbelief darkened his eyes as he listened to her final, decisive words.

“Anything she’s had, I don’t want. Not the house. Not you. I don’t want any of it. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness. You really are perfect for each other.

“And as for the divorce papers, sign them or don’t. You think a piece of paper can trap me for life? If I decide it means nothing, then it means nothing.”
