Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 54

Chapter 54

Chris stared at the cutting smile on Winter’s lips. His expression hardened as he released her wrist.

“Oh, right,” she said lightly. “I almost forgot. I’m still your legal wife.”

The humiliation and rage Winter had felt from the forced kiss had vanished without a trace. In its place

was a cold, pure sarcasm.

“Skyla must really love you. A socialite from one of the top families, once the most sought–after heiress in Liono City, and she’s willing to be your side piece. Just thinking about it must break your heart.”

She lifted her gaze toward the distance. Skyla sat in her wheelchair, gauze pressed to her forehead, looking fragile and pitiful.

Winter looked back at Chris. “By the way, the other night when you dropped me off at Blackwood Manor, you left in a hurry. You probably didn’t notice the divorce papers on the nightstand in your bedroom or on your desk in the study. When you go home, sign one of them. Any copy will do. I’ve already signed.”

She watched his expression grow darker by the second. The satisfaction that bloomed in her chest was undeniable.

“If you haven’t gone home, that’s fine too. I sent another copy to your office by courier a few days ago. You can sign that one.”

“Winter, shut up.” His voice was ice–cold.

He didn’t want to hear it. So she made sure he did. Not only did she keep talking, she deliberately emphasized the words divorce papers each time.

“Even if you tear up every copy of the divorce papers, it won’t matter, she said coolly. “I signed several. One way or another, a set of divorce papers will end up in your hands.

“If you want me to stop talking, then sign.

“Otherwise, I don’t mind standing outside the Xander Corporation every day with a megaphone, reminding you to sign.” 1

She shoved him aside and caught the slight twitch of his fingers out of the corner of her eye.

“Chris, Skyla’s still waiting over there. If you touch me again, aren’t you afraid-”

She didn’t get to finish.

He swept her up into his arms.

“Afraid of what?” His face was carved in frost as he carried her toward the elevator.

The caregiver wondered what help they could possibly provide. She had seen clearly that Chris was kissing Winter just moments ago. Now that they were leaving together, there was no telling what would happen.

The force wasn’t light. His muscles tightened instantly. His grip loosened just enough.

Winter twisted free and ran without hesitation.

Chris remained where he stood, eyes dark as he watched her flee. One hand rose to his neck where she had bitten him. His breathing deepened.

The teeth marks were deep.

If she hadn’t been in such a hurry, she might have truly tried to bite him to death.

Behind him came the soft sound of wheels rolling across the floor.

Before he even turned, Skyla’s gentle voice reached him.

“Chris? I’d like to go home now. Could you take me?”
