Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 53

Chapter 53

Winter jerked her arm, but Chris only tightened his grip. She struggled until her face flushed red.

“Avoiding you?”

How could he say that so casually?

She almost laughed, but nothing came out. Instead, she forced herself to calm down. She stopped struggling.

“Well, if that’s how you want to put it, you’re not wrong.”

She lifted her chin and met his cold, shadowed eyes.

“Have you ever heard the saying that if you don’t want bad luck, you stay away from the plague?” she said clearly. “Yes. I’m avoiding you. Does that answer satisfy you, Mr. Xander?”

His expression darkened. A sharp, humorless laugh escaped him. “You’ve got quite a mouth.”

“If that’s what you think, I can’t help-”

Her words were cut off.

He yanked her forward, grabbed her chin, and crushed his mouth against hers in a brutal kiss.

“Chris, let go of me-” she gasped. “Go find Skyla–you jerk-”

The moment she tried to curse him, he forced her lips apart, his kiss turning rough and punishing. The hand gripping her chin slid to the back of her head, locking her in place.

Winter stood at about five–foot–six in flats. Chris was close to six–foot–three. She was forced to tilt her head back to endure the deep, relentless kiss.

Fury burned behind her eyes.

She lifted her foot to kick him, but he anticipated it. He pivoted, pressing her into the wall. His broad chest trapped her, forcing her mouth open.

A trace of unfamiliar perfume drifted into her nose. Instantly, the image of him carrying Skyla into the elevator that morning flashed through her mind.

“Why are you crying?” Chris murmured.

His thumb brushed the corner of her eye. Warm tears clung to his skin before the breeze cooled them instantly.

He looked at the redness around her eyes and lowered his head again, capturing her lips.

Her strength drained quickly. Her knees weakened.

He wrapped an arm around her waist and held her against him, breathing heavily as he looked down at her. “Still going to talk back?”

She pushed at him again, but he caught her wrist before she could strike.

“Weren’t you the one who said you’re afraid of pain?” he said coldly. His thumb brushed across her palm. It was red from hitting him.

Her eyes were bright with fury. “If I can hurt you, I don’t care if it hurts twice as much!”

His grip tightened. He leaned down to kiss her again.

A gentle voice sounded from behind him.

“Winter? Chris?

Winter’s lips were swollen and flushed. She gave a slow, taunting smile. “Well. Looks like your childhood sweetheart found us.”
