Chapter 487
“Win… Winnie!”
Wendy rushed over and shoved the bathroom door open.
Winter was curled up in the corner, her head lowered, her left hand clamped tightly around her right wrist.
Wendy was just about to breathe a sigh of relief when she saw blood seeping through the bandage wrapped around/ Winter’s right wrist.
The cut on her wrist hadn’t been very deep, and it had stopped bleeding days ago. That meant Winter must have been gripping it with terrifying force.
“Winnie.”
Pain surged in Wendy’s chest, and her eyes turned red.
She took one step forward, but Winter’s weak voice stopped her.
“Can you close the door first?”
Wendy felt a tight ache in her chest. She gently closed the bathroom door, then turned around and knelt in front of
Winter.
After everything that had happened, the injuries and the illness, Winter had lost so much weight. Wendy gently held her shoulders, and the sharp bones beneath her palms made her heart ache.
She pulled Winter into her arms and lightly rubbed her back.
With her other hand, she tried to loosen Winter’s grip on her right wrist. But the moment Wendy touched her, she felt something warm soak into the collar of her shirt.
Wendy quickly wiped Winter’s tears away.
The corners of Winter’s mouth tugged slightly as she tried to force a small smile.
“Don’t worry. I’ll get better.”
Wendy’s vision blurred.
Winter was the one who was sick, yet she was still trying to comfort her.
Wendy blinked quickly and hugged Winter tighter.
“I’ll stay with you. If you’re tired, tell me. Don’t carry everything by yourself. Richie isn’t the only one who needs you. I need you, William needs you, and Mr. White needs you too.”
Winter wiped the tears from the corner of Wendy’s eyes with the back of her hand.
“I didn’t know you could say something this cheesy.”
Wendy glared at her.
“Then I’m never saying it again.”
She held Winter’s hand and led her out of the bathroom.
As soon as they came out, they saw William walking in, wearing a baseball cap and a mask.

William stopped in his tracks.
At one glance, he saw that blood had soaked through the bandage around Winter’s right wrist.
His lips tightened behind the mask.
He didn’t look up at Winter’s face. Without saying a word, he turned and left. A short while later, he returned with a tray carrying antiseptic and clean bandages.
“I’ll do it,” Wendy said, reaching for the tray.
William said lightly, “It’s just a small cut. I can handle it.”
Then he added in an easy tone, “It’s nothing. Sit down, eat something, drink something, and watch your idol work his magic.”
He sat on the edge of the hospital bed, placed the tray on the nightstand, and pulled Winter’s hand onto his thigh
Winter didn’t resist.
She didn’t speak either.
She sat there quietly and let William unwrap the blood-soaked bandage.
Just as he had expected, the wound that had already scabbed over had been torn open again.
William’s fingers went pale from the force he used to hold the bandage. His lips pressed together, and his jaw tightened.
He took a slow breath.
