Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 441

Chapter 441

Roy seemed not to have heard Zion’s reminder at all. He shook Zion’s hand off.

Winter was leaning sideways against the headboard. In that position, her shoulder blades stood out sharply beneath her hospital gown.

She had gotten so thin.

“Roy, thank you for coming to see me,” Winter said. “You should go back and focus on recovering.”

Roy typed a line on his phone.

“With you in this state, what right do you have to tell me that?”

Winter’s gaze faltered.

That was true.

What right did she have to persuade anyone else when she couldn’t even take care of herself?

Winter lowered her eyes and murmured, “I just can’t make sense of it.

“My father caused his parents’ deaths, and he drove my parents to theirs. Somehow, both sides got an ending. Chris got revenge for his parents. But what about me?”

Zion froze. A chill ran down his spine.

He had known she was in a bad place, but he had never imagined this was why.

Damn it.

He really deserved to get punched. He had actually kept telling her to soften toward Chris for now and wait for another chance to leave.

The thought made Zion want to punch himself.

Winter’s father had caused the deaths of Chris’s parents, but that had nothing to do with Winter herself. Chris, on the other hand, had driven her parents to their deaths.

That made him the person who had taken her family from her.

How could she possibly give in to him?

Winter’s shoulders trembled. Her voice was broken, but she was trying hard to hold it together.

Zion did not think much of it. He only looked at Winter with a complicated expression.

It felt as if every comforting thing he could possibly say had become useless.

But Winter had just said something far too bleak. If he didn’t say something, he was afraid she might spiral even further. Right now, the most important thing was to keep her grounded.

“Ms. Scott, I’m not good with words,” Zion said. “I’m just a rough guy, so I don’t really know how to comfort people. But isn’t the point of living to live for yourself?

“If Chris doesn’t treat us like people, then we’ll live for ourselves. To hell with Chris Xander. That bastard. That absolute piece of trash.”

Suddenly, Zion felt a sharp, icy chill sweep over him.

He instinctively hunched his shoulders and looked around. The windows were closed. The door was closed. The fan was off. The air conditioner was off too.

So where had that cold draft come from?

He looked at Roy, who was standing silently beside him, and nudged his arm.

“G, don’t you think so? Come on. Take out your phone and curse him with me. Maybe if we curse Chris out together, Ms. Scott will feel a little better.”
