Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 436

Chapter 436.

When Chris shot Skyla himself, he knew Richie might lose his only chance to be saved. Dominic couldn’t imagine how much that must have broken him

Dominic turned to get the wheelchair and slapped himself twice.

Just then, there was a knock on the door

Dominic glanced at Chris before saying, “Come in”

Mr. White pushed the door open. When he saw Dominic helping Chris sit at the edge of the bed, with Chris drinking water and a wheelchair beside the bed, he hurried over in concern.

“Mr. Xander, you’re awake. Where are you going?

“Ms. Winter woke up once, then went back to sleep,” he added, thinking Chris was going to see her.

Chris gave a faint hum. “Keep a close eye on her.”

Dominic supported Chris by the arm and helped him into the wheelchair, then pushed him out of the room.

“Mr. White, have someone prepare something easy to digest and bring it over. Chris will eat when he gets back.”

That stopped Mr. White from following them.

“All right. I’ll arrange it now,” he said quickly.

Once they were inside the elevator, Dominic finally asked, “What exactly happened between you and Winter? How did things get this bad?”

The elevator fell silent for several seconds.

Then Chris said, “Eighteen years ago, I drove her parents to their deaths. Five years ago, she found out the truth, and I hired a hypnotist to erase her memory.”

Dominic’s breath caught.

“Any one of those things would be enough to condemn you. You’re insane! You actually had someone erase her memory?”

Chris lowered his eyes. There was no emotion in them.

“There was no other way.”

“No. There was another way,” Dominic said. “Erasing her memory wasn’t your only option. You just refused to admit it, and you couldn’t bear to do it. You could have let her leave.”

“Impossible.”

Dominic hadn’t even finished speaking before Chris denied it.

Of course Dominic knew that. If Chris had been willing to let Winter go, he never would have thought of erasing her memory in the first place.

And it wasn’t as though Dominic couldn’t understand the impulse. There was someone whose memory he wished he could erase too.

Then he thought of what had happened in Winter’s hospital room earlier, and a chill ran through him.

“She already wanted to leave Liono City before all this happened. Now that the feud between your parents and hers has been dragged back into the open, there is no way she’ll stay by your side. What are you going to do? Erase her memory again?”

Chris lowered his head and looked at the scratches on his hand.

Winter had left them there. He had refused to let go, and she had clawed at his hand with all her strength.

“She can’t take any more.”

Dominic froze.

His sleepy eyes slowly opened. His round eyes were filled with tears as he looked pitifully at the person in front of him.

“Da… da…”

Dominic’s throat tightened. He quickly turned his head away, unable to keep watching

“Yes,” Chris said softly. “Daddy’s back.”

Through the protective suit, Chris took Richie’s outstretched little hand and held it gently, afraid of hurting him. There were still needle marks on the back of the child’s hand.

Richie’s eyelids fluttered. He slowly closed his exhausted eyes, then opened them again, as if he needed to make sure Chris was still there.

Only after confirming that Chris hadn’t left did he finally close his eyes in relief.

Chris’s eyes were bloodshot. His fingertips trembled as he touched Richie’s face.

Richie’s condition had worsened.

If they couldn’t find a suitable bone marrow donor within a month, there might not be another chance.

And even if Skyla survived, the toxins in her body would have to be cleared first. She would also need time to recover enough blood before she could donate.

One month wouldn’t be enough.

Chris lifted Richie’s little hand and pressed a kiss to it through the protective suit.

Just then, the doctor hurried over, his voice unable to hide his excitement.

“Mr. Xander, we just got good news from the bone marrow registry!”
