Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 418

Even before William could fixe

“Put the gun down!” Winter’s face went pale as she stared at Chris. “Tell your men to lower their guns. Do not point them at William.”

Chris watched as she rushed out from behind William in her panic and stepped in front of him, shielding him with her own body.

In his mind flashed the image of her in the woods, firing without hesitation to cover him, despite the danger to herself.

So she could protect someone else too.

“He was going to take you out of Liono City,” Chris said, darkness surging in his black eyes. “Away froth me.”

His Adam’s apple moved slowly. His hoarse voice sounded rough, almost strained.

“Wasn’t he?”

The bodyguards beside him felt their hearts tighten.

Winter had no idea that, the moment Chris realized she hadn’t been taken by force but had left willingly, he hadn’t given anyone time to react before rushing deep into the woods.

He had moved so fast that even they, former special forces soldiers, couldn’t catch up.

They hadn’t known what Chris was so afraid of. All they could do was chase after him, closing the distance little by little, until he suddenly stopped.

Through the branches, they finally saw a group of people leaving from one side of the hollow.

Among them was a woman.

It was Winter.

When they asked Chris whether they should intercept them, Chris had only said, “Wait until they reach level ground.”

It took them a few seconds to understand.

That path was steep. With Winter’s lack of field experience, she could easily fall if she was startled.

He was afraid she would get hurt.

But now, Chris only threatened coldly, “If you dare leave with hin, I’ll cripple him.”

Winter’s voice rose. “Don’t you dare!”

She hadn’t denied that she wanted to leave Liono City.

She hadn’t denied that she wanted to leave him.

Something flickered between Chris’s brows. A laugh slipped from his throat, so low it was almost mandible

It didn’t wound him.

But it stopped his movement.

William gritted his teeth and turned back.

Behind the dark muzzle of the gun, Chris’s eyes were filled with a cold, terrifying chill.

“Don’t touch her.”

The veins at William’s temple stood out. He stared at Chris, then gave a cold smile.

The next second, he wiped the tears from Winter’s face with the back of the hand still holding his gun. With his other hand, he took Winter’s hand and held it tightly.

At the same time, weapons clicked into place all around them.

Another team had been hiding in the woods.

A tall man stepped slowly out of the darkness, his posture straight and steady.

He lifted his eyes. As his face came into view, his sharp, well–defined features showed a clear resemblance to William.

“Mr. Xander,” he said, his voice calm but firm, “I suggest you stop firing at my brother.”
