Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 414

None of that mattered right now.

He had to get Winter out of here before Chris came over.

Zion tightened his grip on the gun and kept himself hidden in the shadows so Chris and the others wouldn’t spot him. The visibility here was decent, so he took off his night-vision goggles and looked at Winter. His expression was more serious than she had ever seen it.

“Do you want to use this chance to leave Liono City?”

Winter froze.

Her heart suddenly began to race.

Leave Liono City?

That thought had been rooted deep in her mind for so long. Now that it had been pulled out so suddenly, she went blank for a second.

When she came back to herself, she turned her head to look toward the other side of the woods. At that moment, she noticed a small cut on the back of Zion’s hand.

It was the same cut he had gotten yesterday when she went to cook for Roy. Zion had been helping beside her, and a shrimp tail had pricked him.

That couldn’t be faked.

Zion quickly glanced that way, then lowered his voice and urged her, “Ms. Scott, if you keep hesitating, it’ll be too late.”

Just as he thought Winter was still wavering, she tightened her grip on the gun in her hand.

It seemed to still carry the warmth of Chris’s palm.

She frowned, forced down the strange emotions stirring in her chest, and nodded to Zion.

“Let’s go.”

“Okay.”

They moved quickly from behind the tree.

A black handgun fell to the spot where they had been hiding.

Boom!

The next second, an explosion went off behind them.

Zion’s expression changed. He grabbed Winter’s arm and pulled her protectively to his side.

“Careful, Ms. Scott!”

The sound of trees snapping and rocks scattering came from the woods.

The explosion had come from their three o’clock.

And that was exactly where Chris had been.

Zion led her down into a hollow between the hills.

Sure enough, the moment Winter looked up, she saw William standing among the bodyguards, his expression cold. He was wearing a black weatherproof jacket.

William strode toward her.

“Are you hurt?”

Winter shook her head.

Only when he was this close did she really realize that beneath his weatherproof jacket, William was still wearing light pajamas.

It wasn’t hard to imagine how rushed and panicked he had been when he came rushing here.

The scolding that had already reached the tip of her tongue was swallowed back.

William placed his hands on her shoulders, then pulled up the hood of her jacket and tucked it over her carefully.

“Your face is a bit of a mess, but after a wash, we can still keep you.”

Winter had no energy to banter with him.

“You didn’t pull your wound open, did you?”

“I already told you I’m fine. Stop worrying over nothing.” William pulled the hood back over her head. “We’re leaving now.”
