Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 379

By the time Chris arrived at the hospital, the sky was already bright.

Morning dew had dampened the ends of his hair.

His stride was still composed, but he was walking faster than usual.

Not far away, a black van was parked in the lot. William and Winter stepped out of it. When William saw Chris, he shifted slightly, quietly blocking Winter’s line of sight.

He looked back and watched Chris enter the inpatient building.

Why was Chris at the hospital so early in the morning?

“Come on. Don’t you have a magazine shoot at ten–thirty?” Winter urged him.

She had come to the hospital with William today for a follow–up on his injury. Since his assistant had gone back to his hometown for personal reasons, Winter was acting as his assistant for the day. William’s agent would also be heading to the shoot later.

William looked at her. “You’re getting into the role this quickly?”

“Of course. I’m your assistant for the day, so you’d better pay me.”

William smiled lazily. “I’ll give you my entire fee from today’s shoot.”

Most celebrities didn’t get paid for magazine shoots, but William was a major star. This shoot was also part of a campaign for a brand he endorsed, so the brand had offered a generous payment.

Of course, he wasn’t doing the magazine shoot for the money.

His fans had simply been complaining for ages that they hadn’t had a new magazine cover of his to buy.

“What would I even do with that much of your money?” Winter asked as she stepped into the elevator with him.

William looked away. As Winter stepped inside, he instinctively held the elevator door for her.

He pressed the button for their floor. “I have too much money and nowhere to spend it.”

Before the elevator doors slowly closed, he lifted his eyes and silently signaled for his bodyguard to follow Chris.

Chris reached the elevators and stopped. Slowly, he turned his head and looked toward a column near the entrance hall.

His expression remained indifferent as he looked away. When the elevator arrived, he stepped inside.

It was the special sterile room built for Richie.

The little boy was sleeping deeply. At a glance, Chris saw him holding a white dress shirt. His two thin legs below his diaper rested on the shirt, and his small face was pressed against the fabric.

Chris sat down beside him and gently touched the boy’s soft, fluffy hair through the protective suit.

His hair was fine and soft, very much like Winter’s.

The little boy turned over. Chris pulled the shirt over his small belly.

“He hasn’t had any bad reactions, has he?” he asked the doctor in a low voice.

The doctor shook his head. “Don’t worry, Mr. Xander. There haven’t been any problems.”

Around noon, the little boy finally woke up.

He opened his round, dazed eyes. When he saw the man in protective clothing sitting beside the bed, he slowly tried to turn over. The movement seemed difficult for his weak little body. He tried a few times but couldn’t quite manage it.

Chris’s hand, resting on the edge of the bed, clenched into a tight fist. His knuckles strained so hard against the sleeve of his protective suit that the fabric looked ready to tear, yet he still didn’t reach out to help.
