Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 373

After Winter and Zion left, the spacious penthouse grew quiet. Only the TV in the living room still played in the background, with laughter and the voices of the show’s guests chatting as they played games drifting through the air.

It only made the dining room feel even quieter.

After taking off his mask, Chris peeled away the fake scar stuck to the corner of his mouth. Looking at the dishes in front of him, he silently picked up his fork.

“Cough…”

The spice hit the back of his nose, and he took a bite of rice to steady himself.

“Cough…”

He took a spoonful of soup.

“Cough…”

The sky outside had already gone dark. He sat alone at the dining table, coughing from the heat as he kept eating.

Little by little, he finished every dish on the table.

After dinner, Chris opened a bottle of water and drank it all in one go.

Then he took out his phone and saw a message the bodyguards stationed near the neighborhood had sent more than ten minutes earlier.

“Mr. Xander, Mrs. Xander and her friend have already left.”

Chris’s dark eyes deepened. He leaned back in his chair, took a pack of cigarettes and a lighter from his pocket, and lit one.

His gaze drifted to the pale blue slippers on his feet.

The only light on in the entire apartment was the one above the dining room. Under it, his tall figure looked faintly lonely.

The night was silent.

In the basement, Skyla leaned against the corner with her eyes closed. Ever since she had woken up, the dull ache in her lower back hadn’t gone away.

What exactly had those medical workers who suddenly barged into the basement done to her?

There was no doubt that it had been Chris’s order.

She looked at the tiny needle mark on her forearm. She still couldn’t figure out the aching in her lower back, but the needle mark most likely meant they had drawn her blood.

Had Chris taken her blood because he wanted to use it to find the antidote?

At the thought, she laughed through the tears in her eyes.

“Chris, oh Chris. So you promised to release a public clarification just to trick me,” she muttered under her breath.

Gavin followed Chris down the stairs. Chris stopped just beyond the farthest reach of the chain around Skyla’s ankle.

“Where is the antidote?”

Chris’s voice was even colder than his eyes, so cold that Skyla couldn’t help shivering.

But since Gavin’s claim about finding someone more suitable than her had turned out to be a lie, that was enough to prove Chris had no other option.

She knew very well that she held something Chris cared about. No matter what happened, Chris wouldn’t take her life.

“Chris, didn’t we agree? You release the clarification statement, and I’ll tell you where the antidote is. What you promised me…”

“See for yourself.‘

As she spoke, Gavin held a tablet in front of her.

Skyla lowered her head and looked at the screen.

It showed the country’s largest social media platform, where Chris had a private account.
