Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 331

Who it is has nothing to do with you.” After that cold reply, Gavin hung up.

It was getting dark outside. The holiday season was over, and Liono City had gone quiet again. The festive buzz had faded, leaving behind that familiar post–holiday emptiness.

Westbury felt even deader. The whole house was so still and cold it felt almost like a tomb.

Skyla’s mind kept circling around the things Gavin had said. The more she thought about them, the more jumbled everything became. It took her a while to sort through it.

So she had been right.

All this time, Chris had only cared about the blood in her body, or something connected to it.

And now that he had found someone better, she had become disposable.

At that thought, Skyla went numb. Her whole body turned stiff and cold. She stared blankly at the dark screen of her phone, then called Gavin again.

No answer.

With a cry of fury, Skyla hurled the phone to the floor.

Then she covered her face with both hands and started to cry.

Why had it turned out like this?

She had only wanted Chris to care about her. If he had shown her even a little concern, she would have been satisfied.

Just then, she heard a car engine outside the courtyard.

It had to be Chris.

Skyla dropped her hands at once. Her tear–filled eyes lit up. Smiling through her tears, she pressed the control button on her wheelchair.

When it still felt too slow, she urged the caregiver, “Hurry. Take me outside.”

But at the gate, her bodyguards stopped the car.

They blocked the plate, but Skyla only needed one look at the vehicle to know it wasn’t Chris’s.

It wasn’t him.

“It’s not him,” she murmured.

Victor opened the car door and stepped out. The disappointment on Skyla’s face was obvious. He gave a cold snort

If he could, he would be the one calling the shots in all of Liono City.

But the second he heard Skyla speaking to him in that commanding tone, something in him snapped. It brought him right back to the way Bart had once hooked an arm around his neck, smacked him hard across the head, and laughed as he said, “Tonight, your wife sleeps with me.”

The same tone. The same contempt.

Victor’s face flushed red with rage. “Watch how you talk to me!”

The instant Skyla saw the fury and humiliation on his face, she understood. She let out a cold laugh. “You couldn’t find out.”

A man who could not get anything done and only knew how to rage when he failed. What a pathetic coward. Victor shot back coldly, “Then why don’t you ask him yourself? Weren’t you the one always bragging about how much Chris valued you? Oh, right. I almost forgot. All those rumors out there were spread by you. None of them were true.”

He nudged the wheel of her wheelchair with the tip of his shoe and sneered. “All you’ve got is that one lifesaving favor.”

That hit Skyla exactly where it hurt. Her face turned livid. She drew in a deep breath and said, “Keep looking.”

That tone again.

Victor was just about to lose his temper when Skyla flicked him a cool glance. “I’m warning you, Victor Jasper. I have enough on you to ruin you. Try me again and see what happens.
