Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 255

Chapter 255

His gaze swept past Skyla, who had just been lifted back into her wheelchair by the caregiver, and his voice turned icy. “Take her inside. Without my permission, Skyla is not to leave that door.

He tightened his arm around Winter’s waist and forcibly took her away from Westbury.

In the car, after struggling violently, Winter’s vision went black. Her consciousness slowly slipped away, and her body went limp.

The tears she had been holding back so desperately finally escaped, sliding from the corners of her eyes in thin

streams.

Chris stiffly pulled her slender body into his arms.

One arm wrapped around her shoulders and held her against his chest. With the other hand, he gripped her bloodied right hand. His dark eyes were full of shadowy, cold anger.

The car sped away from Westbury and headed for Blackwood Manor.

On the large bed in the master bedroom, Winter lay unconscious, her body sunk deep into the soft mattress. Her face looked even paler, almost completely drained of color.

After finishing the exam, the doctor looked at Chris, who was sitting beside the bed with his usual cold, unreadable expression. “Mr. Xander, she’s fine. There’s nothing seriously wrong with her. She just passed out from the shock. Once she settles down, she’ll wake up.”

A dark shadow settled over Chris’s eyes. As he applied medicine to the torn skin between Winter’s thumb and index finger, he said in a low voice, “You can all leave.”

The doctor, Mr. White, Gavin, and Dominic all filed out of the room.

Dominic had come to see Chris because there had finally been progress on something Chris had asked him to investigate. It wasn’t something he could explain clearly in a few words over the phone, so he had decided to come to Blackwood Manor in person.

But just after he arrived, Chris suddenly left because of something urgent. And when he came back, Winter was unconscious in his arms, and she was hurt.

“What happened? How did Winter get hurt?” Dominic asked Gavin after the door closed.

Gavin’s eyes paused for a moment, and his expression turned hard to read. “Mr. Xander fired at her.”

Dominic froze.

“What did you just say?” He couldn’t believe his ears.

Chris had fired at Winter?

Who would joke about something like that during the holidays?

Crash!

Chris was sitting beside the bed, his expression as cold and distant as ever.

He was holding a bottle of medicine and a cotton swab, treating the injury between her thumb and index finger. The blood on her palm had already been cleaned away, but the faint metallic smell of blood still lingered in the air, turning her stomach.

She sat up in bed. Ignoring the dizziness, she lifted her hand and swept the tray of medicine and gauze off the nightstand.

Everything crashed onto the floor.

The uncapped bottle of iodine tipped over onto the hardwood floor, staining part of it dark brown.

He had fired at her.

And now he was tending to her wound like that somehow made it better.

How was that any different from killing her first and pretending to care afterward?

How had she forgotten? Chris had always been like this. He would hurt her, then turn around and offer a little kindness, as if that erased everything.

And she had actually let herself waver because of it.

What a joke.

Without even looking at him, Winter threw off the covers and started to get out of bed. The movement pulled at the wound on her hand, but she only frowned a little.
