Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 183

Chapter 183

At first, when she was knocked to the ground, Winter thought it was Roy.

For some reason, she had always believed he would protect her. Just like last time, when he had been upset with her but still appeared at the critical moment and pulled her behind him.

She never would have imagined it was Zac.

But Zac held her tightly against his chest. The moment he got to his feet, he grabbed the steel pipe off the ground. When the attackers came at them again, he swung it back at them and kicked one of them to the ground.

But the other side had come prepared, and they were clearly trying to kill.

Zac wasn’t a trained fighter. He worked out regularly, but that was nothing compared to dealing with professional killers.

Even after Zion’s men joined in, all they managed to do was barely keep things even. They still couldn’t turn the situation around.

Then suddenly, a man dressed all in black stepped forward. He wore a black baseball cap, a black face mask, and black tactical gloves. He bent down and picked up one of the steel pipes from the ground.

With a quick turn of his wrist, he sent the pipe swinging and dropped the two men closing in on him from

either side.

Then he caught the steel pipes both attackers swung at him, one in each hand, and slammed them inward so hard their heads smashed together. Both men cried out and dropped to the ground.

Winter stared blankly at the tall, straight figure standing there.

Zion’s eyes lit up. “G!”

Winter looked at Roy in disbelief.

So he hadn’t gone out on a job after all.

Then why had he ignored both her messages and Zion’s?

The moment Roy joined the fight, the situation turned around fast.

Winter tore her gaze away. Zac was still holding her tightly in his arms.

“Zac, it’s okay now. Roy’s here. We’ll be fine.” Her voice was full of certainty.

Zac glanced at the man in the baseball cap who had stepped into the fight. It was obvious from the way he moved that he was extremely skilled.

He let go of Winter carefully. “Are you okay?”

She knew better than anyone how much a dream like that could mean.

Just like she had always dreamed of becoming a reporter, someone who could expose the truth and tell right from wrong.

Zac gave a faint smile. “I haven’t had the chance to tell you yet, but I don’t want to be a doctor anymore. So even if this hand is ruined, it won’t matter.”

His thumb lightly brushed the corner of her eye, and his voice was gentle as water.

“So can you stop crying now, Winnie? Be good, okay?”

Winter felt terrible.

By then, all of the hitmen had been taken down.
