Game Over, Mr. CEO: Your Wife Is Done (Winter and Chris) novel Chapter 103

The moment Chris bid one hundred million, it was basically a buyout. Even if someone wanted to keep bidding, he had made one thing clear. He was taking it.

In Liono City, nobody could outbid Chris.

The only reason Steve didn’t raise his paddle again was because Winter reached over and stopped him.

“I don’t want it,” she said.

“Steve, I don’t like that brooch.”

It happened right as the room went quiet. Her voice didn’t carry to the whole hall, but it was clear to the people sitting in the rows nearby.

Skyla stayed calm. Her eyes flicked to Chris’s long, pale fingers on the armrest, and she gave the armrest a light tap.

Steve shrugged. “One hundred million. I can match that. You don’t need to worry about the number.” Winter looked him straight in the eye. “If I like something, I’ll want it even if it’s junk. If I don’t like it, it can be beautiful and worth a fortune, and I still won’t care.”

She repeated it, serious and steady. “I really don’t want it.”

The auction kept moving as if nothing had happened.

A staff member soon brought the velvet box holding the sapphire brooch to Chris. Chris signed for it without hesitation.

Whispers started up right away.

“Is he buying it for Skyla?”

“She kept looking at it. She must want it. He is really spending big to make her happy.”

“But isn’t Winter his wife?”

“A wife on paper, maybe. Who cares.”

While the murmurs spread, Winter quietly slipped out of the auction hall.

She tugged her shawl closer and headed back toward the main hall. A moment later, a warm, heavy coat draped over her shoulders, still holding the wearer’s heat.

Winter’s breath caught. She turned and saw Zac, his expression edged with concern.

“Zac.” She forced a smile. “Why are you out here?”

Zac fell into step beside her. His tall frame blocked the cold draft slipping in through the glass doors.” Did you like that brooch?”

Chapter 103

“Chris!”

Through the falling snow, Zac hurried over.

Zac was known in Liono City as the perfect gentleman. He always moved with calm control. Nothing ever seemed to throw him off or make him lose his composure.

Chris paused with one hand on the car door and looked at him, a hint of scrutiny in his eyes.

“Are you giving that brooch to Skyla?”

“Why?Chris asked.

His voice carried the same cold bite as the wind and snow.

Gavin frowned slightly. Zac and Chris had been close for more than twenty years, and Zac never involved himself in things like this.

Zac stepped closer and said plainly, “Sounds like you’re not giving it to her. If you’re not, then sell it to

me.”
