Chapter 349 What Exactly Do You Think of Layla?
Layla reached out and tapped George lightly on the head, her voice exasperated. “I was just making a comment. What are you overthinking now?”
George clutched his head, his expression sour.
Comments like that are how feelings start. I can’t afford another rival.
He rubbed his hands together and quietly made his way behind Yates. He tapped him on the shoulder.
Yates turned around and saw George standing there. A flicker of confusion crossed his face, but he asked politely, “Did you need something?”
George nodded, his expression dead serious. He crooked a finger at Yates. “Come with me.”
Yates was baffled, but he followed.
Once they were in the corner, George fixed him with a grave look. “What exactly do you think of Layla?” he asked.
Yates was even more confused now. Still, he answered honestly, “She’s an incredible female. She’s brave, she’s smart, she trusts the people around her without question. She’s really amazing.”
George’s stomach dropped.
This boy is already completely head over heels for Layla.
He tested the waters. “So if you ever look for a mate, you’d want someone like Layla?”
Yates’ face went red. He glanced at George, a little embarrassed. George was acting weird today. They barely talked, and now, suddenly, he was asking all these personal questions. Still, he nodded honestly.
“If that were possible, it’d be a dream come true,” he said.
Yates meant he’d want someone like Layla in the future, not that he was in love with Layla right now. So he nodded without thinking twice.
But in George’s mind, this was a full-blown declaration of war. He ground his teeth.
No wonder he’s always hanging around Layla. He’s been planning this all along! I have to shut this down before it goes any further.
George looked at Yates with the gravity of a wise old man who’d seen it all. “Take my advice. Someone like Layla-you can’t handle it,” he said.
Yates stared at him, his eyes wide with genuine confusion. “What are you talking about?”
George kept going, playing the wise mentor, “I’m doing you a favor. Do you know how much I suffer every single day fighting with that bastard Oliver? I’m trying to save you from going down the same road.”
George was an intergalactic idol of national renown. Being called brutish? His perfectly handsome face twisted purple with rage.
Yates quickly stepped in to smooth things over. “Stop fighting. It’s all just a misunderstanding.”
Oliver glanced at Yates with a meaningful look, his tone dripping with concern. “If anyone gives you trouble, just tell me. I’ll go talk to Layla for you.”
He shot a pointed look at George as he said it.
George was about to lose his mind.
Oliver’s doing this on purpose, just to mess with me. I’m going to wipe that smirk right off his face.
He shoved his sleeves up even higher, ready to throw down with Oliver right then and there.
At that moment, George couldn’t have cared less that Oliver was royalty. All he wanted was to teach him a lesson.
Just as the fight was about to erupt, Layla’s voice cut through. “What are you two doing?”
Oliver, whose back was to Layla, felt a surge of glee. He shot George a wicked grin, then turned around and put on the most pitiful, wounded expression he could muster. He looked up at Layla with big, sad eyes.
