Fluffy Mates Chase Their Boss on Survival Show novel Chapter 421

Chapter 421 I’m Contaminated Now

orge and Emily kept busy, too. They gathered dry firewood and built a campfire right there on-site.

George had not forgotten why Layla brought him along.

Even though Rowan had already caught fish, he stretched his hand out into the nearby river.

Most of the fish in the water swam straight toward him, including several small snakeheads.

George moved fast. He lifted the snakeheads with currents of water and carried them over to Layla like he was presenting a treasure.

He smiled, “Layla, look. I caught more of these little snakeheads.”

George wore an eager expression, and Layla did not hold back her praise.

She gave him a thumbs-up. “Great job.”

Layla quickly cleaned all the fish.

For the extra catch, she and Emily wove a makeshift basket out of vines. They set the basket in the river to keep the fish fresh temporarily.

Several fish roasted over the fire, hot grease sizzling off their surfaces.

George took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and let out a quiet sigh. “It smells so good.”

Layla smiled at his greedy look.

She tore off a piece of cooked fish and pressed it into his hand.

George’s eyes lit up at the steaming pale flesh. He started eating hungrily right away.

The meat was incredibly tender, with a faint, unique milky sweetness.

George had never tasted fish this good, and he ate every bite with obvious enjoyment.

Layla watched him, a soft smile tugging at her lips. She tore off a portion for herself and chewed it slowly.

Her eyes widened.

The fish really was delicious.

No wonder Rowan went through so much trouble to catch them.

She licked her lips and glanced at the smaller fish nearby. Usually the young of this kind of fish tasted better.

If the full-grown ones were this amazing, the juveniles had to be incredible.

Layla leaned closer. She poked one fish with a stick to check if it was fully cooked. Once she confirmed it was done, she took a bite.

The flesh was even softer, the milky aroma stronger, and its bones were still pliable.

could almost chew and swallow the whole thing without picking bones out.

Layla made a happy mental note. She would catch more small fish later to bring back for Carson and the others.

All of a sudden, George let out a loud gagging sound.

Layla turned toward him just as he spat something out onto his palm.

She frowned, “What is that?”

Layla stared at the round, pearl-like object resting in George’s hand, confusion showing in her eyes.

George rubbed his chin and studied it carefully for a long moment. “Could this be a pearl?”

Layla picked it up and examined it closely, then shook her head. “Doesn’t look like one.”

She rolled the pearl-like item between her fingers. Slowly, it started to change shape.

It softened whenever it warmed up.

Layla grew even more curious about it.

As a water-type beastkin, George lowered his eyes and observed the object intently.

After quite some time, he spoke with total certainty. “If I’m not wrong, this forms inside the fish’s body. It’s basically the fish version of a kidney stone in humans.”

That description made Layla feel nauseous. She flicked the object away without thinking.

George had his mouth open mid-sentence.

The item flew through the air and landed straight inside his mouth.

He had no time to react, and he swallowed it with a thick gulp.

Complete silence fell over the group.

Someone snickered first, and soon Emily and Layla were both laughing.

George immediately stuck his fingers down his throat, trying to throw it up.

But the substance seemed to dissolve inside his stomach. Nothing came back up no matter how hard he

tried.

George’s eyes welled up. He looked over at Layla. “Oh, no, Layla. I’m contaminated now.”

Layla patted his head sympathetically, a flicker of guilt in her gaze. “My bad. We’ll have Shane check you out once we get back.”

George nodded, miserable.
