Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1568

“Got it.”

Hanging up the phone, Melvin immediately drove toward Eclara University.

On the way.

He also contacted his private investigator to pull up the background check on Kian.

Because Janet had previously mentioned she had no interest in Kian, and because he'd been swamped with work, he hadn't gotten around to reading it.

Flipping through just the first two pages, Melvin snapped the file shut.

It was absolutely repulsive.

Meanwhile.

Inside a private custom bridal studio.

Juniper was lounging on a sofa, leisurely snacking on fruit.

“How are you going to handle Janet's situation?” Shanley Schwartz brought her a glass of warm water, asking softly.

Janet was like a real sister to her; if anyone breathed a bad word about her, Juniper would usually explode.

This time, the situation was pretty severe, yet she was surprisingly calm.

“My brother caused the mess, so naturally he has to be the one to fix it.” Juniper munched on her fruit and continued, “Watching them lately, I've noticed Janet isn't entirely indifferent to Melvin.”

“They've been dancing around this for so long. It's time someone tore down the paper wall between them.”

She'd gladly surrender this “hero saving the beauty” moment to Melvin.

“You little mastermind.”

Shanley pinched her cheek and sat down beside her, glancing at the long row of gowns across the room. “There are still ten more to try on.”

Suddenly, the fruit in Juniper's hand didn't taste sweet anymore. She glared resentfully at Shanley, clearly displeased. “Exactly how many wedding dresses did you get?”

She had been trying them on since morning and had already cycled through over a dozen.

And there were still a dozen more?

“Are you tired?”

Knowing that trying on dresses was exhausting, Shanley pulled her into his arms, coaxing her gently. “I only booked one custom piece from every top bridal designer in the world.”

He had started organizing this the moment they officially got together.

Added all up, there were indeed dozens of dresses.

“Tell me, how exactly did you seduce him?”

The woman's heavy makeup made her look particularly vicious as she glared at Janet.

“I'll say this one more time. Kian and I are just classmates. Aside from that, there is absolutely no relationship between us.”

Facing the judgmental stares of the crowd, Janet forced herself to stand tall and replied coldly. “Actually, wait, someone was shamelessly throwing themselves around, but that person was Kian. He was the one pursuing me.”

“Where is Kian anyway? As a man, is he really just going to hide like a coward when something like this happens?”

Janet paused, then added, “Miss, let me give you a piece of friendly advice. Your boyfriend is an absolute hypocrite and complete trash. I'd strongly suggest you dump him as soon as possible.”

“Are you trying to lecture me?”

Hearing Janet's words, the woman suddenly let out a cold laugh. “Him, pursuing you? Have you looked in the mirror? The sheer audacity of you, Janet Wilcox!”

“Believe what you want.”

Janet coldly withdrew her gaze, grabbed her phone, and turned to leave.

“Hold on, did I say you could leave?” The woman abruptly grabbed Janet's wrist, her voice rising even louder. “You think you can just play the mistress, steal someone else's boyfriend, and waltz right out of here?”

“Spill it. Who is the man in that picture? I'd love to notify his wife so we can both teach you a lesson!”
