Better Late, But Never His Again novel Chapter 91

Julian said coldly, "Let her go, or you're a dead man."

Sean gritted his teeth. Instead of backing down, he kicked the door open, planted his foot squarely on Julian's waist, and yanked Hazel inside!

The iron door slammed shut. Julian caught his balance, his gaze turning somber. "Sean Sutton!"

He actually dragged Hazel in there! He had brought her along to force her to turn herself in. Damn it!

Remembering the way Sean had looked at Hazel, Julian's mind raced. He banged on the door, his composure slipping. "You better not touch her! You'll only make things worse for yourself!"

The police arrived at that exact moment, breaking down the door. Julian immediately rushed inside.

But there was no sign of Sean or Hazel. Had he kidnapped her?

Evelyn was tied to a chair in the corner, her hair a messy tangle and tear stains streaking her face. The moment she saw Julian, fresh tears spilled over, her lips trembling too much to speak.

Julian's gaze hardened. He quickly knelt down and untied the ropes around her wrists.

He scooped Evelyn into his arms, his heart aching for her. Evelyn wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face in his chest as she shivered violently. "Julian, you're here... I was so scared."

The police swept the room. Sean and Hazel had escaped through the window.

Julian's face turned livid as he turned to the officers. "My wife was taken by him! You have to ensure her safety!"

With that, he turned and carried Evelyn out of the building.

Evelyn rested her head on his shoulder, continuously shrinking into herself and burying her face deeper into Julian's embrace.

She had almost lost control of the situation this time.

Meanwhile, Sean dragged Hazel into his secret basement, a place no one could find.

He grabbed her by the hair and threw her into the room.

Hazel stumbled, her knees hitting the hard floor with a painful thud that made her groan. She pushed herself up, turned, and faced him. "Whatever you want, I can give it to you."

"Aren't you supposed to be so capable? Weren't you the one who threw me in jail?" Sean stalked closer, his eyes practically radiating malice. "Do you think your so-called husband is going to come looking for you?"

Hazel stared at his twisted expression, her voice surprisingly calm.

"Julian, what about Hazel? What if she gets hurt?"

Julian's fingers paused. He looked down at Evelyn, a complex emotion swimming in his eyes, and gently brushed her cheek. "Evelyn, do you have any idea why Sean suddenly decided to abduct Hazel?"

Evelyn wrapped her arms around his waist and pressed her face against his chest, her stomach dropping. "I don't know, Julian. Maybe Sean has completely lost his mind. Can we find Hazel quickly? I feel so awful. This is all my fault."

Julian stared at her, his gaze turning cold. He didn't say a word.

Finally, he sighed. "Don't worry, I'll find Hazel. You have nothing to feel guilty about."

Evelyn's eyelashes fluttered. She lowered her head, her voice muffled. "Okay."

Julian failed to notice the fleeting malice in her eyes. Only Evelyn knew that Hazel hadn't teamed up with Sean at all. By going with him this time, Hazel was as good as dead.

She would soon be able to take Sean down once and for all. By then, she would have eliminated Hazel, gotten rid of Sean, and secured a reputation as a kind, forgiving woman in Julian's eyes.

It was killing three birds with one stone.

Resting against Julian's chest, the corners of her lips curled upward.
