Bait for a Gentleman novel Chapter 42

But he wanted to take a gamble.

In the end, he had sent that email.

If she hadn't come back, he never would have shown up at Vantachi that night.

Audrina took a soft breath.

"I had a little too much to drink," she said. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

Sebastian spun her around. His heavy gaze locked onto her. "You can pretend you don't understand. I'll explain it to you slowly later. But Audrina—"

"Why did you come with me?"

Her back pressed against the cold glass.

There was no way to deny what he was saying.

Why had she followed him out?

It was nothing more than...

Than what, exactly, she couldn't explain.

The man's gaze was incredibly piercing, tracking slowly down her neckline.

Her smooth, radiant skin flushed a faint pink under the dim lights, rising and falling softly with her breaths.

Zachary hoarded the title of her fiancé, yet treated her like garbage.

He had wasted three years of Audrina's life, and three years of his...

He had been done holding back for a long time.

Sebastian dipped his head, their noses brushing as he pressed his lips to hers.

Behind Audrina was the ocean, the night, and the faint glow of the distant lighthouse.

In front of her was him, his suit jacket already discarded, his shirt sleeves rolled up to the elbows, veins pressing against his forearms.

His glasses had been tossed onto the sofa, stripping away his refined, gentlemanly facade.

He kissed her hard, a fiercely possessive assault, as if he wanted to devour her whole.

Only one thought echoed in his mind: Zachary didn't deserve her...

Audrina had nowhere to hide.

Just as Sebastian was about to take things further, he suddenly stopped.

He remembered Zachary's little "lesson."

He lowered his head, biting her earlobe as his lips gently grazed her skin.

No answer.

He called out to her softly once more. "Drina."

Utterance by utterance, he crushed whatever was left of her sanity.

The ocean waves outside the floor-to-ceiling windows shifted from gentle lulls to aggressive crashes.

Smashing against the glass, the water burst into white foam before streaming down the pane.

Sebastian pressed his forehead against Audrina's, kissing away the moisture at the corners of her eyes, his breathing heavy and scorching.

The room was bathed in a dim, warm light. The corners of her eyes were tinged with pink, and her lips were swollen from where she had bitten them—looking like an absolute mess, yet devastatingly beautiful.

"Sebastian, how do you know..." She glared at him, all her defenses instantly flaring up. "Who gave you permission to call me Drina?!"

He swallowed the rest of her words with another kiss, offering no explanation.

He only said, "I like it."

That nickname was far too intimate. He was breaking the rules.

Audrina felt a flash of anger. She turned her head, avoiding his gaze.

But he pinched her chin, forcing her to look at him. His voice was husky. "So, how was my performance tonight?"
