The tint wasn't entirely obvious, but on a man, it was jarringly vivid. Paired with his devastatingly aristocratic features, it gave him an air of untamed arrogance.
Audrina immediately remembered how he had casually wiped his lip just moments ago.
He did that on purpose. The absolute menace!
Sebastian walked out at a leisurely pace.
The warm, amber lighting of the corridor draped over his broad shoulders. He lifted a hand, adjusting his cuff with effortless grace.
Tamara was standing just a few feet away. When she saw him emerge instead of Audrina, it was as if she'd been struck by lightning. She froze entirely.
"Mrs. Sutton," Sebastian greeted in a lazy drawl, offering a curt nod.
Tamara's eyes darted frantically from his handsome face to the half-open door behind him, then back again. No matter how fast her brain worked, she couldn't process the scene in front of her.
"Mr... Mr. Hawthorne?" She subconsciously took a half-step back, her grip tightening on her clutch. "What are you..."
"Using the restroom." He answered smoothly, a faint, unapologetic smile lingering on his lips.
Before Tamara could even formulate a response, Audrina stepped out from behind him.
Her face was perfectly composed. Her lipstick was flawlessly touched up, her hair smoothed back into place, betraying absolutely nothing.
Her gaze landed on Sebastian, her eyes widening in perfect faux surprise. "Mr. Hawthorne? You're here too?"
His lips twitched. He offered a polite, distant nod. "Ms. Monroe. What a coincidence."
Coincidence, my foot.
Audrina forced a bright, gracious smile.
Tamara's stunned paralysis didn't last long.
She was the matriarch of the Sutton family, after all. She quickly reigned in her shock, slipping back into her usual haughty elegance. Tearing her gaze away from Sebastian, she focused entirely on Audrina.
"Audrina, dear," she began, maintaining the faux concern of a future mother-in-law. "Why are you hiding up here instead of entertaining the guests downstairs? Today is filled with our esteemed elders. As part of the younger generation, you really ought to be making your rounds."
She cast a deliberate side-eye at Sebastian.
The smile on her face didn't reach her cold eyes. "After all, you'll be marrying Zachary soon, and today is Waldo's big day. Hiding in a restroom alone with... a friend... if word gets out, people will say the Sutton family has no manners."
Before Audrina could even open her mouth to reply.
