"Do you guys even understand what tier Everest is on? If they're putting out a statement like this, it means those leaks were absolute garbage."
"Wait, why was this 'Ms. Monroe' able to hire a lawyer from Everest in the first place? Don't their consultation fees start in the five or six figures an hour?"
Someone replied directly under that thread: "Just a rumor I heard, but apparently Ms. Monroe is the heiress to the Monroe family."
"The Monroes? Which Monroes?"
"How many Monroe families are there in Kingshire? Her father was Julian Monroe, a major player in the elite circles back in the day. Even though they aren't as powerful as they used to be, a starving camel is still bigger than a horse. She's a literal heiress. Why is everyone freaking out over her driving a million-dollar car?"
"No wonder. Nothing to see here, folks, go home..."
Audrina's fingers trembled slightly.
She still hadn't replied to the text Sebastian sent her last night.
From the moment she woke up, she hadn't dared to check the trending topics, terrified of facing a mob of faceless strangers ripping her apart from behind their screens.
She had no idea that Sebastian had already quietly issued this statement to protect her, without saying a single word to her...
Audrina handed the phone back to Zachary, her expression completely unreadable.
"How do you explain this?" Zachary demanded.
Leaning back into the sofa, Audrina replied calmly, "I just wanted the Monroe family shares back, so I hired Mr. Hawthorne as my legal representative. He drafted the agreement for me. Is it really that shocking that Everest issued a statement?"
Zachary glared at her, suddenly flashing a deeply unsettling, cynical smile.
"Who is Sebastian Hawthorne? I've known him for over twenty years! I know him better than you do!" He took two aggressive steps forward, towering over her. "Since the day he founded Everest, he has never touched a case worth less than nine figures! And you're sitting here telling me he took on a petty little compensation dispute? Audrina, don't treat me like an idiot!"
"You're right, you're not an idiot. So why don't you go ask him?!" Audrina snapped her eyes up to meet his, refusing to back down. "Ask him why he took the case! Or are you just too terrified to do it?"
Zachary didn't answer.
Audrina had lost all patience for his games. "Things have already gotten this ugly. There's no point in us dragging this out. Did you read the agreement?"
He sat down in the chair across from her, crossed his legs, and tapped his fingers twice against the armrest.
