Bait for a Gentleman novel Chapter 100

"Audrina." His voice was entirely hoarse when he said her name.

His gaze locked onto her mischievous smile and her long, beautifully defined eyelashes.

Her delicate nose and the slight upward tilt of her eyes completely reeled him in. He instantly leaned in to kiss her, but she deftly dodged out of the way.

A second later, he clamped down on her wrist and hauled her right back.

As he pressed forward, Audrina raised her index finger and placed it firmly against his lips.

"We've already kissed," she murmured, her eyes still sparkling with amusement, though her tone shifted strictly to business. "Isn't it time you held up your end of the deal?"

Sebastian closed his eyes for a brief second, then pulled back and sat up properly beside her.

He loosened his tie, knowing exactly what she was here to ask.

But instead of answering, his expression turned serious. "What are you planning to do about Zachary?"

"Break up, obviously," Audrina said, looking incredibly relieved. "That's actually why I'm here. I wanted to consult you. With the current situation between him and me, is there any way I can get Monroe Industries' shares back?"

She genuinely wasn't sure if it was possible, but since it was the legacy her father left behind, she had to try.

Sebastian's fingers involuntarily curled inward, a subtle tremor rippling through his chest.

Leaning back against the sofa, he didn't answer her question directly.

Instead, he asked, "Did he agree?"

"I threw all the evidence of him hooking up with Vera right in his face," Audrina stated matter-of-factly. "He didn't have a choice."

She looked like someone on the verge of shedding a crushing weight, her face glowing with eager anticipation.

Sebastian struggled to regulate his breathing, experiencing a rare moment of sheer distraction.

The warm office light hit the sharp angles of his profile, softening his usual intimidating edge as a faint smile touched the corners of his lips.

Audrina failed to notice the sudden softness in the man beside her.

She picked up the water glass from the table and took a sip, casually adding, "So, last time you said Zachary wouldn't dare break off the engagement. Why is that?"

Sebastian watched her drink from his glass, leaving a faint lip print on the rim. It nearly derailed his train of thought entirely.
