“It was Cinderella, Snow White, or Elsa?” Natasha straightaway cut him off.

“Arabian Nights?” Natasha guessed it right again, letting out a helpless sigh. “Seriously, I could even recite that in my sleep!”

Finally, Natasha couldn’t take it anymore. “Can you please stop with these kiddie fairy tales?” ”

Jared shrugged. “Hey, I just thought these would be easier for you to follow,” he responded.

Natasha was speechless. ‘So he thinks I can’t understand anything more complicated?’ Natasha thought, rolling her eyes.

Jared’s intense gaze met Natasha’s for a moment. Then he arched an eyebrow and launched into tales of the intrigue and drama in the business world. Natasha was hooked, listening with genuine interest.

So, for the following few nights, Jared would show up in her hospital room, spinning stories about the cutthroat drama and twists of the business world.

Natasha was so caught up in his stories that she almost forgot about the pain, the injury on her forehead, and being a patient. She was gradually recovering, and the hospital had already approved her discharge the following day.

In the afternoon, Natasha was resting in her hospital room. Suddenly, the door swung open. She figured Jared was showing up earlier than usual today. But when she looked up, to her surprise, it was Percy.

Natasha’s brows furrowed right away. She wasn’t foolish enough to think that Percy had shown up to check on her. She had been injured for many days, and if Percy had actually cared, he would have come way earlier.

Sure enough, Percy walked right up to her bed, and the first thing he asked was, “What happened to you?”

Natasha was expressionless. “Just spit it out,” she said.

She knew Percy was well aware who was responsible for her current state. He’s probably here to beg for Joelle again, Natasha thought, rolling her eyes.

Seeing her in that hospital gown, a pang shot through Percy’s chest. He had guessed that Natasha must have been seriously injured; otherwise, she wouldn’t have been hospitalized. But he had never expected her to lose so much weight.

“I know Joelle went way over the line this time! What do you want? I’ll compensate you for her,” Percy said.

Natasha’s brows furrowed. ‘Compensate me?’ Natasha scoffed inwardly.

“Who says you get to compensate me for Joelle? Unless you both get divorced and flaunt your relationship for everyone to see. If that’s what you’re after, then hey, congrats!” Natasha said, her tone full of mockery.

Percy’s face instantly darkened. Rightfully, now that he and Joelle were both divorced, he was finally about to be with Joelle, just like he always wanted.

‘Isn’t this what I’ve been dreaming of? But for some reason, I don’t feel happy at all. Instead, I could feel this weird, unexplainable emptiness inside,’ he thought to himself.

Natasha was stunned for a moment. ‘Wait, they’re really not together?’ she thought, genuinely surprised.
