Natasha frowned. “Are you out of your mind? You finally managed to get Rundell Group, and now you’re going to hand it back to Harley?

“Wouldn’t that make everything you’ve done pointless?”

Jared’s eyes darkened. “Do you care about me?”

Natasha shrugged. “I’m stating the facts.”

Jared’s gaze burned into her. “Don’t you realize what’s truly important to me?”

Natasha was speechless.

‘Would he really give up Rundell Group for me?’

Natasha’s heart skipped a beat.

But she didn’t think it would ever come to that.

“You don’t have to be so reckless. I’ll figure something out, I won’t actually get tangled up with Nelson,” she said, her voice steady.

Natasha drew in a deep breath and said.

She didn’t want to owe Jared a favor because of this.

Jared asked from behind her, his gaze unusually intense, “Doesn’t your husband care?”

Her parents were basically planning to marry her off to that old guy.

Percy, as her husband, shouldn’t sit back and do nothing.

But up to now, Jared hadn’t seen Percy react at all.

‘Isn’t that strange?’ Jared thought.

Natasha’s expression froze.

If she hadn’t split up with Percy, Bernard introducing her to Nelson would’ve definitely made Percy step in.

But she and Percy were already divorced.

This had nothing to do with Percy now.

But Jared didn’t know she and Percy had already split up.

She needed to cover it up with a convincing excuse.

“He’s been really busy lately, so he hasn’t bothered to step in,” Natasha replied.

“Busy?” Jared raised an eyebrow, a mocking smile tugging at his lips.

“Busy, indeed,” he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

Natasha couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to his words than met the eye.

But she didn’t press him about it.

As long as Jared bought her excuse, that was all that mattered.

But every single company turned her down.

She started thinking maybe she should open her own place and be her own boss.

That way, she wouldn’t have to keep working for someone else and putting up with their attitude.

Even though she had the money to start a business, she’d never actually run one before and was totally clueless about how to make it work.

She decided to talk it over with Dorothy.

“You really want to open your own bookstore?” Dorothy was genuinely surprised by her idea.

“Yeah, I’ve actually wanted to open my own bookstore for a long time,” Natasha said with a smile.

Dorothy said, “But running your own shop isn’t exactly a walk in the park. Plus, aren’t you planning to leave after Christmas?”

She was about to head overseas.

It had been two weeks since she last saw him at Rundell Group, and they hadn’t talked at all.

That’s how grown-ups break up, no drama, no explanations, quietly moving on.

It was a physical thing, two people hooking up for what they wanted, nothing more.

Since it never really started for real, of course there wasn’t going to be a proper ending.

Natasha was lost in thought when Dorothy suddenly yanked her arm and shouted, “Look, it’s Percy.”

Natasha followed her gaze.

Across the street, a huge shopping mall was holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

A stretch Lincoln was parked at the end of the red carpet.

The driver opened the door.

Percy stepped out, looking sharp in a high-end suit.

Then he turned and offered his hand to someone inside the car.

A delicate hand slipped into his palm.

Natasha watched the scene unfold, her mind racing with questions.

‘Did Percy already land himself a rich heiress?’ she wondered.

Dorothy nudged her arm. “Who’s that woman?”

Natasha shook her head. “No idea.”

Soon, the woman stepped out of the car.

She looked really sweet and innocent.

But she wasn’t the rich heiress Natasha had expected.

Natasha had never seen her among the elite crowd.

But she was definitely gorgeous.

‘Percy’s already got himself a new flame? And he’s flaunting it so openly?’ Natasha thought, a little stunned.

Dorothy curled her lips. “You two never went public, right? Isn’t he worried people will say he’s having an affair, showing up with another woman like this?”

Natasha narrowed her eyes. “With his status now, even if people say he’s cheating, it won’t really hurt him.

Dorothy snorted in disgust.

Percy took Joan Simonds’s hand and walked her down the red carpet.

Dorothy caught up to her. “Natasha, you’re not mad, are you?”

Natasha shrugged. “Why would I be? Percy and I have been over for a while now.”

Dorothy said, “But you two were a couple. It’s not even been a year since you broke up, and he’s already flaunting his new girlfriend. Isn’t that a bit much?”

Natasha said, “Whatever. I don’t care.”

Now that they were divorced, she no longer cared about him.

Besides, even before the divorce was official, Percy was already flaunting his relationship with Joelle.

“If anyone should care now, it’s Joelle.” Natasha added.

As soon as she finished speaking, Joelle suddenly appeared on the red carpet.

Joelle marched straight up to Percy and Joan.

She threw a glass of water right in Joan’s face.

Percy immediately pulled Joan protectively into his arms, giving Joelle a cold, hard stare. “What the hell are you doing?”

Joelle snorted. “What do you think? I’m teaching this homewrecker a lesson for my sister.”

Percy and Natasha had never made their divorce public.

Now that he was openly walking another woman down the red carpet, it made perfect sense for Joelle to step in and give Joan a piece of her mind.

Reporters and curious onlookers swarmed around them.

Natasha had already left the scene.

But with all that drama unfolding, Dorothy pulled her back to check it out.

“Wow, I never thought your sister would actually have your back like that!” Dorothy exclaimed.

Percy grabbed a tissue and carefully wiped the water off Joan’s face, keeping her protectively in his arms.

Her hair and dress were damp too, not her cheeks.

“Go inside and use the restroom to dry off,” he said quietly.

Joan gave him a grateful smile and nodded.

“Don’t you dare walk away!” Joelle snapped, moving to go after her.
