"Really? It worked?" I asked Baxter, looking hopeful.

I mean, I had been waiting for this, to be honest. Ever since I heard that his wolf didn't like me, I had been really upset. Insecure, too.

But thankfully, now I was finding out that all the jealousy had finally made him realize that whatever games he was playing weren't worth it. What he was doing was wrong.

"What if it's just a plan and he wants to attack you?" Baxter commented, making my smile fade.

"I'm not saying that's what he'll do, but just in case."

Baxter let out a deep breath and placed his hands on his waist. He looked worried before finally nodding.

"Fine, but you'll have to take a wolfsbane injection with you, and you will inject me with it the second you feel like he's becoming a threat. Promise me," Baxter said, holding my hand and giving me a firm nod.

Well, when Kaylee went for a nap, we knew she would stay asleep for a good few hours.
