In front of me, my wife was speaking to another man with so much love and affection, and I couldn't say anything.

I mean, I had started it. I had made our relationship awkward, and now she had moved on.

"Isn't it weird?" my wolf snapped at me.

"What is?" I asked, feeling painfully jealous.

It seemed my wolf wasn't particularly fond of the situation either because he sounded just as upset.

"I mean, Madeline doesn't seem like the kind of person who would do something like that."

My wolf had the nerve to say that after spending the last few days convincing me that she was exactly that kind of woman.

"Are we really going to talk about this? It's done. We've made our decisions," I grunted at him, trying to silence him so I could rest for a bit.

Seeing her with him wasn't pleasant for me.

"And you think it's pleasant for me? Damn it! How can she just move on? She didn't try to come to you. She didn't try to make things better. Is that how a devoted wife and mate acts?" Axe snapped, as if he were any better.

The fact that he had been acting completely unhinged all this time and was now suddenly remembering everything and getting upset was beyond me.

"I don't understand what your problem is, Axe. You wanted us to take care of our responsibilities, and now that I'm doing exactly that, you keep disagreeing with me," I commented, walking toward the room.

As I reached for the door handle, I felt resistance.

"Not toward her," he hissed, referring to Kaylee.

"Why not? Remember, we're marrying her? We proposed to her this morning," I reminded him, reaching for the handle again, only for him to force my hand away once more.

"Really? You proposed to her. I didn't. Did you not hear anything your wolf said yesterday? Besides, do you really feel anything for her? Anything at all?" Axe questioned, clearly bothered by my changing behavior and sudden devotion to Kaylee.

"It doesn't matter whether I feel anything for her or not. My memories are gone. Once I get my memories back--"

I was still speaking when he started chuckling.

"Oh, trust me. You won't like her," he hissed.

"You know what? Why the heck am I even talking to you?" I grunted at him.

"I want to shift," he insisted.
