I had come back to the living room, where we were having tea before discussing the letter we were going to send to the werewolves, informing them that our president would be visiting them in a day to discuss some deal.

Of course, that letter was never actually going to reach them.

Only Rosetta would receive it, and she would use it as an excuse to show the council members and get Baxter entry.

"I snuck toward the guest house. I was just anxious to see what was going on, and guess what I saw?" she mumbled, clasping her hands over her mouth.

"What?" I asked, taking her hand.

We were gossiping like teenagers, like the crazy sisters we were.

"I saw that alpha you guys brought in to fool Nina. What is his name again?"

She spoke in a whisper, but one loud enough for Daniel to hear clearly, and I watched his pen stop moving across the paper.

"Byron. Isn't he handsome?" I asked.

She nodded repeatedly.

"He's really sexy, you know? Oh my God, he's so tall. And you know how I saw him?" She cupped both cheeks in her hands. "He had just walked out of the bathroom after taking a shower with only a towel hanging low around his waist, and it was a little lower than it should've been, so I got to see a little more than I was expecting."

She said it all in one breath, sounding shy and turning tomato red even though she was only pretending.

"Really? Okay, you actually look like you're blushing. You know he's a really good friend of mine," I said, watching her lower her hands from her face before slowly raising one to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.
