Janina took a moment to calm her frantic nerves, realizing her back was drenched in a cold sweat.

“I… I had a nightmare,” she said in a hoarse voice.

Queenie was wearing only a thin nightgown. It seemed she had rushed over in such a hurry that she hadn’t even had time to grab a robe.

Queenie’s room was right next to Janina’s, so she had arrived quickly.

Noticing how raspy Janina’s voice was, Queenie quickly poured her a glass of warm water.

Covered in sweat, Janina was indeed thirsty. She drank the entire glass in one go, the water soothing her throat and making her feel a little better.

Once she’d recovered a bit, she told Queenie to go back to bed.

Queenie was still worried. “Janina, I’m not tired. Why don’t I stay here until you fall asleep?”

She left her door open, put on a jacket, and lay down on her bed, ready to get up at a moment's notice.
