A Woman Worth Billions Dated the Wrong Brother novel Chapter 333

Amber POV

The next few days passed far too quickly.

Lawyers came and went..

Our legal team prepared for the DNA test.

The media continued speculating.

Thankfully, the Solys had stopped giving interviews after Jason agreed to the test. For the first time since this nightmare had begun, there was… silence.

At least outside the castle.

Inside, there was only one conversation left to have.

One neither Jason nor I wanted.

We had to tell Alice and Alex.

“They’re too young.”

Jason stood by the study window with his arms crossed.

“We don’t need to tell them everything.”

I looked up from the papers spread across my desk.

“We do.”

“They need to know someone is trying to take them away,” he replied. “But we can make it gentler.”

“They don’t need the ugly parts.”

I closed the folder in front of me.

“The ugly parts are exactly why they need to know.”

Jason sighed.

“Amber…”

“They’re children.”

“And children understand more than adults give them credit for.”

He ran a hand through his hair.

“I don’t want them living in fear.”

I walked over until I was standing in front of him.

“I don’t want that either.”

“But fear isn’t the same as awareness.”

He looked away.

“They’ve already been through enough.”

have we.”

The words escaped before I could soften them.

Jason’s eyes met mine.

“If we had known the truth…”

“If we had known how dangerous the people around us really were…”

“Would we have made different choices?”

He didn’t answer.

I continued quietly.

“You almost lost your company because you trusted the wrong people.”

“I almost lost everything because I believed people who didn’t deserve that trust.”

I swallowed the lump in my throat.

“Alex was kidnapped because someone manipulated him.”

I wasn’t blaming him.

I never could.

“But if he’d known there were people willing to lie to him…”

“…he might have questioned that message.”

Jason closed his eyes.

“And if we had known the truth about the Vincents years ago…”

“…we could have protected ourselves.”

I nodded.

“And maybe avoided a world of hurt.”

The room became silent.

Finally, Jason let out a long breath.

When he opened his eyes again, there was sadness in them.

“You’re right.”

He smiled sadly.

“I hate that you’re right…”

“…but you are.”

He reached for my hand.

“We tell them the truth.”

That afternoon, we found Alice and Alex in the library building a castle out of wooden blocks with Rose and Iris.

When they saw us, they smiled.

“Mama!”

“Dad!”

My heart tightened.

I wished this conversation could wait another ten years.

But life rarely gave parents that choice.

Jason sat on the rug first.

I joined him.

Rose and Iris quietly sensed the mood and moved to another corner of the room.

Alex looked between us.

“Did we do something wrong?”

Jason immediately shook his head.

“No.”

“You haven’t done anything wrong.’

Alice crawled into my lap.

“Then why do you both look sad?”

I brushed a strand of hair behind her ear.

“Because we need to explain something important.”

The children listened carefully.

“There are some people,” I began, “who believe they should be your family.”

Alex frowned.

“But… you’re our family.”

“You are our family,” Jason answered gently.

“And nothing is changing that.”

I continued.

“Sometimes adults disagree.”

“Sometimes they even ask judges to decide things.”

Alice looked worried.

Truth

“Like… school?”

little.”

She thought for a moment.

“Do they want us to live with them?”

I didn’t lie.

“Yes.”

Her little hand immediately grabbed mine.

“I don’t want to.”

“You don’t have to pretend,” I told her softly.

“If you’re scared, you can tell us.

Alex lowered his head.

“I am scared.”

Jason wrapped an arm around him.

“So am I.”

Alex looked surprised.

“You are?”

Jason nodded.

“When people I love are hurting…”

“I’m scared too.”

The words seemed to comfort him.

I looked at both children.

“There is something else you need to know.”

“Not everyone who smiles at you wants what’s best for you.”

“They might tell you they’re trying to help.”

“They might promise you wonderful things.”

“They might even say they’re family.”

I paused to let the words settle.

“If anyone ever asks you to keep secrets from Dad or me…”

“Or tells you not to tell us something…”

“You come to us immediately.”

Alex nodded without hesitation.

Alice nodded too.

“I promise.”

Jason looked at me.

There was pain in his eyes.

But there was something else too.

Acceptance.

He finally understood why I had insisted.

The truth couldn’t protect our children from every danger.

But ignorance certainly wouldn’t.

And after everything our family had survived…

We would never mistake the two again.

Amber POV

The morning of the DNA test arrived far sooner than I wanted.

Our legal team had negotiated every detail.

No one would be able to question the results.

Three independent samples would be collected.

Three accredited laboratories would analyze them.

The samples would be sealed in front of representatives from both families, with an independent notary overseeing the entire process.

No one would have the opportunity to tamper with anything.

Even the media had been invited to witness the chain of custody.

If the truth was going to come out…

It would come out beyond any doubt.

Jason squeezed my hand before we entered.

“Ready?”

“No.”

I smiled weakly.

“But let’s get this over with.”

The conference room was overflowing with reporters.

Television cameras lined every wall.

Lawyers occupied one side of the room.

The Soly family occupied the other.

Alice and Alex stood between Jason and me.

Alice had wrapped both arms around my waist the moment we arrived.

Alex stood beside Jason.

His face was calm.

Too calm.

Most people would have believed he was handling everything remarkably well.

I knew my son better.

His fingers kept opening and closing nervously.

His shoulders were stiff.
